Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

4CDA549E-C5F9-45F4-933B-7AAD487B319A.jpeg A few quaffers at the Cullen cellar door today (along with a few other CD’s), didn’t take a pic of the DM’s or KJ’s. Cullen were very generous with heaps of museum releases to taste. 20% off and free freight at the CS today as it was (the late?) Dianna’s birthday

Came back to the hotel to this.....

I recently had a bottle of 2016 Boston Bay riesling. Picked it up at a visit to the winery in Port Lincoln during the AFF cruise.

The winery was a great place to visit - a carton of wine followed me home.

The riesling was well flavoured without being too overbearing. Good thing I bought more than one!

Brunello and a 90 day aged rib.

Wine opened and decanted an hour ago. Still very tart and bitter tannins, as expected. Could last another 10 years. Needs more aeration, probably another 3 hrs.

Found a couple of bottles under the stairs in the holiday house during a clean up.

First up, 2008 Freycinet Pinot Noir. Superb; everything (I reckon) a pinot should be and drunk in its native habitat.

Next, 1990 Peter Lehman Shiraz. Very doubtful about this one, but the cork came out cleanly and no sign of wine getting near the top surface. It was very good; maybe a trifle below best (but I wouldn't know what that was of course) and greatly enjoyed with a T-bone and a setting sun.

A couple more, the Marsanne was my first and not really to my taste, the Semillon was gorgeous. Both straight from DM.
I included my travel Riedel with its cardboard tube, I wrap the glass in a cotton polishing cloth to stop it rattling and pack it in my checked luggage. Lots of events sell these and it’s much nicer than those provided at the Hotels I visit

This is my first and only DM I have owned so I have no personal experience on which to fall back - but I know you and others here have that experience which I need to tap. Methinks I should lay it down for a number of years. Already consigned to the 2nd bottom shelf in quiet contemplation.

Bought a couple of Cote Di Rhone quaffers from Nicks recently. This one is first I’ve tried and is a lovely Grenache Shiraz with soft tannins and little bit of spice. Most enjoyable.

A bit OT but I'm deliberately posting here as this is a popular thread
I'm looking for a link to all the private label wines from Woollies/Dans and Coles etc
I'm sure I saw it on AFF...
Many thanks

A favourite NW Coast Tassie Pinot tonight- only 3 left and after a few issues with the CD and Winery setup (I think @drron also had something to say somewhere) I’m no longer buying them - a shame as it is a quality PN IMO
