Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Lots of condensation on the reds
They were all in individual carriers in a cooler bag with white wine and soft drink. We have the Heemskerk and Basket Press coming down to room temperature now. Looking at a late dinner and at least a 2-3 hour decant.

Wait here’s a snack - chef (my friend Andrew) prepared Sushi.

My wife trying Creme de Cassis and Champagne- that’ll relax her :D

Big cork crumble but we survived. This is a Grenache Rose and is drinking very smooth. I have another five.... my goto pizza/relaxation wine this summer for people who commensurate.

What was it like? Roses are pretty much a drink now proposition and I would have thought this would have totally fallen over by now.

On the cards for this evening. Just open for a taste. Classy complex Pinot. Quite an intense spicy nose with plenty of fruit. Drink over the next three to four years.

I think it's gone into a time warp, maybe the Grenache has held it steady? A joy to drink.

Wow. Interesting. Grenache is one of the most common grapes used for rose actually. I find after a couple of years roses lose that freshness and vibrancy which is what I find appealing about them. However, this is what I love about wine. How everyone likes something different :)

I'm definitely finishing the remaining ones this summer so it will be interesting to see if the others have held out. Even though the cork crumbled on tonight's opening there were no adverse effects. I had to decant obviously but straight out of the bottle it tasted good. A gem :)

We had cork crumble as well so a double decant was necessary. Was a little disappointed in it. Not surprised that the St Henri was not alive on the nose but at least it held across the palate. WOTN was the Basket Press

The Basket Press would have been excellent with the steaks.

My elder son and I drank two thirds of this on Wednesday night. I dragged it back from Canada a few years ago. It’s from the very far S end of the Okanagan Valley - almost at the LOTFAP border.

It was tight and dry. Not bad, but - how can I say - imposing.

I drank the remainder tonight with a thick steak off the BBQ.

Phwoar - what a change!

Rich and voluptuous. A cracker. I’m glad he was driving the other night and we didn’t knock it off then :).

Called into Brash Higgins in McLaren Vale today. No cellar door and had a prior arrangement with Brad. Incredibly generous with both his time and wines. All of them to my lacking and some seriously good and interesting wines in his range.
