Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Yeah, the Moss Wood you can drink now but will still improve. I wouldn't say its too young to be drinking at this point though (for my tastes). However if you only have one bottle, I'd say give it a few more years with ease.

i have a few bottles from auction but probably wait until 2025 to open one , i tried once around 2016 , fruits still primary and a little sweet. overall a stong vintage from the margaret river

I have a 707 that I found down in my wine cellar. It was bought for around $100 so I have kept it unopened for quite a while.
Penfolds/Treasury Wines latest pricing made it an investment.
i just keep drinking Moss Wood and Diana Madeline reds instead.

$100 707? 90'?91' vintage?

A little tasting after dinner, this is silky smooth , tannins not rough at all, fruit isn’t as ripe as the last vintage ,Mix berries and dark fruit, Nice oak not overpowering , the oak from last vintage are more noticeable. Maybe that’s why 2017 got 99points. But I prefer this 2018 , more elegant.

Any thoughts on the 2010 Marsanne?

Damn good wine even without taking the price into consideration. Drinking very well now. Experience tells me that these wines drink at their best from about 7-13 years of age. Obviously varies a bit by vintage and tastes.

I’ve opened the 2017 yesterday. First glass didn’t impress although it was decanted. Had another glass and thought meh here’s another Halliday exaggeration. The next day it was completely different, finally I could see the potential. Looking forward to open another one in few years and see the improvement.

Spooky you posting this - today was holding a bottle of Tahbilk Marsanne, which is a variety of grape I have never tried. My colleague assured me that Tahbilk actually do this one really well. May grab a bottle in the next few days to try - as your posts are an omen :)

Am neither an expert at describing wines, nor will ever pretend to be, but tonight's tipple was so unexpectedly good that I will share some feelings about it. Forgive me if half is not in the official wine tasting style:

This is a 2017 cabernet sauvignon from the Margaret River region. It was one of the "not desired" items in a dozen mixed reds I think I actually got from Qantas Wines (?) Can't recall what it actually cost me but just looked it up and appears to retail mid-20's. And I say "not-wanted" as I was really after some of the GSM and other inclusions in said pack. I used to be big on cab savs but that was a long time ago - but after tonight maybe am missing out..

The colour is quite beautiful - startlingly bright yet deep ruby. Strong yet somehow also delicate aromas of dark berries. Delicious blackberry on the palate. Long finish, with moderately high tannins that are somehow smooth despite the very full body and overall richness of this wine.

I have always enjoyed reds that I would describe as powerful yet silky. This comes into that group.

Really really surprised by this wine. Maybe I have just neglected cab savs for too long, but this is a really nice complex, refined, balanced offering. Punches way above its retail price in my opinion.

P.S. thought I would do a first and take the photo on the window sill of my office - just because I havent seen that done before :)

well, both, what i mean was keep discover/drink more new wines and put it away for the future, these can stand against premium wines at 1/4 of the price.
