Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

First time I’ve had the LP Rose, I prefer the billicart salmon rose I think.
08 Magill estate. Disappointed, I’ve had the 06 and 10 before and they were superb but this lacked fruit, Nothing on the nose and was very bland. Decanted for 3 hours.

Sounds faulty. Possibly mild TCA or oxidised. Do you have any of it left? If so, contact Penfolds.

The Treasury Wine chap is coming to Marina del Rey just as I am leaving. I should leave a note about 707 pricing....

I think I've lost my taste for alcohol, I haven't had any for at least 3 months now because of surgery.
Today our suburb had the annual residents' Christmas party in the local park. I took along a Rockford Alicante and even offered a decent glass to a neighbour but after 5 hours still brought the rest home.

Not the best Pinot I've ever had but what a treat enjoying a glass overlooking the mountains from my balcony in Lalibela, Ethiopia.

Dudditz, have never sampled that particular wine, but I am in awe of the photo. It is something that really does it for me - the circumstances as opposed to just the wine. I very much hope you enjoyed it! :)

Juddles I agree wholeheartedly! The moment I saw the balcony I knew this was the time to enjoy a decent wine here. Such a compliment to the spectacular landscape and people I've seen so far - it's a wonderful country!

I’ve just returned from a trip to Toronto, Canada. We had a meal out with some local friends and they chose a red wine that was smooth and delicious. It was from a local winery called Malivoire. The wine was a 2015 Courtney Gamay. Delicious. It’s a shame they don’t export to New Zealand. Has anyone tried it?

Tried the 2016 first and was impressed, stunning wine!
Then I thought maybe my tasting was influenced by the prestigious award this vintage won and decided to try that 2015 next day. Not similar at all, the 2016 was far better.

That's not overly scientific. Please go repeat this experiement mutliple times blind (the wines, not you) :)

Another little tasting after dinner.both of these are top quality Shiraz , the frost dodger ,vanilla red fruit perfume, earthy mineral sweet fruit the oak mix with the fruit very well and long finish . this winemaker is on Barossa but this wine is made from eden valley fruit,at $35 a bottle I’m getting another 6 pack.

The Francesca Syrah ,this wine made from a used Chardonnay cask, black fruits but not as strong, meaty, this feels like shiraz viognier but a different version , the finish is long and dry. I prefer the frost dodger more.

Cleaning some storage space, picked five Aussie Shiraz (one blend) all 2013 but very different from each other.

Voyager Estate was meh and Heathcote Estate didn’t age very well. The other three were great representations of their regions, very different from each other. Turkey Flat powerful yet elegant, Rose Kentish smooth and balanced, Handpicked classic cool climate Shiraz. Lovely wines.
