Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Reminded again tonight how food and mood change the perception.
For our solitary Good Friday dinner we had prawns, I had a few Sydney rocks, and we had some nice whiting.
I had just done a fast 5 k and so had a large stiff g&t before dinner.
For dinner I had pre-chosen my current white fave, a cleanskin Meera Park Terracotta Semillon.
It started out like absolute cough and I didn't get it….. I and everyone really like this plonk.. what is wrong ?
After sharing our prawns with the resident feline, I moved on to the oysters and suddenly the sem lifted.
It was even better with the whiting and it's still ok here in front of the 'puter.
In hindsight I should have opened a Riesling.. but stuff happens….

Purchased locally? Do you drink straight on ice or mixed? (Lemon / mandarin sounds like something I would like)
Yep, the distributor for Australia is "black market sake", you can buy directly or boutique retailers also may stock it. I find it a little too sweet so I dilute over ice. I'm sure it would work fabulous with soda, mixed with a nip of gin would be even better!

This was a cracker from a region noted more for its Shiraz. It punched waayy above its price-point.

Beautifully textural, lovely balance, earthy/dark chocolate overtones and with a gorgeous back beat of very subtle, yet very recognisable, Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.

2012 was fantastic vintage in Coonawarra and Wynns Black Label is one of my favourites from that year. First time for me to try V&A and I’m impressed. Smooth and balanced it was a joy to drink alongside nice cut of wagyu.

Grill chicken for dinner last night, might as well have some whites. (After the other discussion yesterday.)

2002 shows a darker gold colour, nose is quite , Smokey honey, taste like honey and noticeable acidity , that’s all I got ,But the finish is good, there’s no sign of fading away like a off peak wine. I don’t think I can tell the difference in a blink tasting if I put this along side with a less oak Chardonnay.

2006 is lighter in colour and more clear , still smells like a young wine, again honey and melon this time , no sign of oak, less acidic than 2002. These marsanne tastes quite simple but it doesn’t taste like a cheap wine although these 2 wine is less than $20 in retail land, these are good wines.
