Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Eldorado Road Onyx Durif 2014
I'd asked for back vintages. Super happy. Very dark to black garnet, smooth, elegant and luxurious, expansive, really good black fruits and plum compote, hint of sweetness, excellent silky balance. Lots of life left.

2016 Drank over 1.5hrs no decant. One cork noticeably shorter. Menthol, tar, berry. Not the most pleasant, could not distinguish between glasses (no expert). There seemed to be more variation of the same glass than between the two over time. Had same bottle 6 months ago at a restaurant and from memory also not outstanding imo. Unsure how these cellar but will retry tomorrow. At least this deal was intriguing!

Waw

Thoughts on the Pinot?
I've also heard very good reports about the Stonewell
What have you been drinking lately @Mynameislucluc ?

I picked up some of the cheap plonk posted here a few weeks ago - Franklin Tate Estate Alexander reserve Cab and Karri Grove Estate Cab Merlot and both are quiTe acceptable $15-20 wines - a bargain at the ~ $4 a bottle paid

good quaffing wine while Waiting for some other wines to mature.

Bright colour, light and easy drinking even so young.
Stonewall back then was classic, can’t go wrong with it.

How was the Whalebone? I have one 2010 Merlot cabernet left. Can't decide if I should just knock it off or go for 15+yr wine.

Was drinking well but didn’t feel like it reached it’s peak.

When I work in Launceston I always visit the Pinot shop within a couple of days. This time they had good stocks of one of my favourite Tassie pinots Sailor Seeks Horse. So 2 bottles of that plus an interesting looking bottle.A Spanish red with Monastrell and Cab Sav.
