Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

At an estimate this is between 1970 and 1980 going by the other wines in the collection.

Managed to get the cork out clean with an Ah-So.

Huge amounts of coffee, reminds me of Kopiko coffee lollies. Hints of vanilla and honey. Very light mouth feel and body, nothing like the barrel tawny I'm used to which are cloying.

A real treat, I'm tempted to drop half a bottle into my tawny barrel.

Wow. Seriously good wines EK F are offering!
Yes indeed - I have 2 x sent SQ feedback regarding the current quality of offerings in R/F - on DXB-MEL route EK offering Astralis - on SIN-MEL route SQ offering The Bogan - FFS - I did get response that SQ Cellar Manager would assess and get back to me - hasn’t happened yet - but still in sectors where Krug offered well that slaughters any Dom - where Comtes offered not so

Just fly QF F. You'll feel much better about SQ's wine offering then ;)

Only as last resort and only on pts - hell will freeze over before I give QF hard currency ever again

Edit: Need to add some context as I do not want to appear like I am anti Australian or anything like that for not supporting our ‘national carrier

Almost 100% I refuse to buy non-Australian wine as I am more than content with quality of upper end AU reds - so I support AU producers against all imports almost 100% - Champagne a totally diff matter and it’s the only bubbles I buy.

I am more than happy to pay extra $s for almost any AU product if quality is similar to o/s produced product - but QF are just an embarrassment IMO - never have I had a positive exp with them - invariable the total opposite - if I told the Ette we were flying QF F I think she would refuse to board the plane solely due to the poor treatment she received on previous flts

Hence no more $s from me to QF - and sorry for straying OT

They always do! Proper F wines, not Koonunga like on QF! Interestingly, the Château d'Yquem on Australian routes is only 2008 whereas on European legs it’s 2005. Either way, exceptional wine lists. The only trouble with EK F is having the stamina to taste all the wines, and the cognacs, then being able to walk off the plane.

Had this with our roast beef and yorkshires yesterday. It was one I picked up hidden in the cupboard of LL Katoomba for $30 after asking if they had any clearance wines. Drier and less obvious fruit than I'd remembered, reasonably complex. A good drop
