Picked up a few more of these at a recent Langtons auction for a touch over $40. Cork in much better nick than some I had picked up a while back. Earth and woody tones, but still beautifully rich after 20 years.

My last bottle of the 2009 vintage tonight.

Paired with eye fillet, garlic prawn topper, mix of regular and sweet potato chips plus salad.

This specific bottle has some history having been for a swim not once, but twice!

It went under in the Brisbane flood of 2011 and then again in 2022.





Pungent and rancid on the nose, a deep murky brown with notes of old tyre, floating furniture and a subtle hint of fertiliser. A deep layer of sediment gives way to a finish of lingering mould.

But enough about the flood.

The wine was smooth and delicious.

This is an interesting one.

Mystery blend by Roger Pike who didn’t reveal the grapes used. Can taste blue fruits which could mean Mataro dominated. Very long finish, lovely wine

Geez I love a good mystery!

Annual SIBLINGS weekend at Cowes VIC with 8 of my 10 sisters + 3 life long female best friends who we grew up with as neighbours in Foster VIC.

Unfortunately health did not permit eldest 2 sisters to join us but still we soldiered on



Note: 2 sisters do not drink Champagne and a 3rd one only a coupla glasses also due to health problem + dinner and drinks at Hotel Phillip Island on Sat nt restricted our assault by 3 hrs

Well @Cruiser Elite that is quite a haul. I was thinking about taking a couple of bottles of Krug to our annual Christmas Carol evening in a couple of weeks. We can dream that we are flying SQ in first class and the champers might improve our singing. Dan Murphys have it on special.

Seriously I have no idea what SQ are thinking with these 5 alternate Champs - they are all cough and just not up[ top sc ratch - offer the PH RARE as an alt instead - now there is an idea. As for that Shiraz in F that has replaced Bogan well it is cough too - negative feedback sent twice already

I get to indulge on SQ in January and May. Too bad Mrscove doesn’t imbibe nor does she do shellfish and caviar. More for me is a concept I can live with.
Now my weight has dropped post the knee operation as I don’t feel hungry. Go Krug!
