Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

IMG_9810.jpeg

When a resturaunt offers Chateau d'Yquem 2008, or Vin de Constance 2018 by the glass, there is no choice- just try both.
d'Yquem on the left- very refined, balanced, long finish
Constantia- big, bold flavours- good, but not the balance of the d'Yquem

What is the food and service there like now. It's been a couple of years but my last meal the food was dire and the service even worse
The food was great, entree of heirloom tomatoes, buratta and basil was lovely and fresh.
The steaks were Devine.
The service was fine, not outstanding but no concerns either, friendly and polite.
The restaurant was full.
If I could guarantee a replica of last night, I would have no hesitation recommending.

Fresh off the boat. Yum.

mostly recent Vintage Cellar buys, which sadly are likely to be amongst the last given that cashback is no longer available :(

chardonnay.jpg
  • chardonnay: 2018/2019 Cobaw Ridge L'altra easily my favourite, though could just be extra age, with Dexter #2

pinot noir:
  • Lethbridge: 2017 > 2021
  • 2019: M&B SLB > Savaterre
  • Dexter: 2022 > 2021

Well @Cruiser Elite you are continuing your generosity towards your mates.
Meanwhile all I have had is a glass of Moet as i am recovering from knee replacement surgery.
Now I have tested Daou reds at Flemings Steakhouses in Los Angeles and think TWE/Penfolds may have a big job getting that line moving. They are paying a fortune for a line I don’t rate highly.
i was impressed that Taylors won a world prize with a $20 bottle of red.
I still love Mosswood, Xanadu and a few other reds But Pinot Noir is a nah.
