Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

How much have you had to drink already? That pizza looks just like a bottle of wine! ;)
Very intense. Needed few more hours decant. Very rich as expected but quite bitter and tannic, subdued fruit. Wasn’t the greatest wine we’ve had this year…

That doesn't sound ideal at all. Lack of fruit isn't going to improve with time either. Possible mild TCA perhaps?

Couldn't detect any TCA and I'm generelly sensitive to it. Needs at least 4-5 hours airing I feel. But maybe not a good year or good bottle. Dunno. Have another and will try in a year if I live that long. :)

(Not a patch on any of the Conterno Fantino Barolos 2016 we had last week.)

Really low level TCA might not be detectable on the nose but enough to strip the fruit. Lack of fruit in a wine you'd expect to big large in that department is usually a tell.

Changed plans as the wildflowers are past their peak further N, so headed SE through a spectacular show to Payne's Find and into the N wheatbelt, then home today.

The Far Cue red/Jura challenge is for another day... 😜

So I suppose you're telling me you didn't bring me the burger I requested now....hmmm. Disappointed :p

Decided this should match nicely to kassler chops and sauerkraut. Being "topped up" it's not overly oxidative. Really bright and fresh with some cashews, preserved lemons and amazing salinity. Should match very nicely with the food. I could drink gallons of this stuff.
