I used to use that - then I realised I hardly ever ticked off the bottles that were consumed. Now its the 'I wonder what's in that carton' inventory method.

I used to have a cellar book but really didn't keep it up to date.
So now it is the patented method of walking into the cellar thinking what needs to be consumed soon.
Wish I could as well but I keep tripping over boxes on the floorIf I had the luxury of a cellar I could walk into, I'd do the same!
Like Rooflyer and Drron, I used to keep a record years ago and I remember using WinBase on windows 3.1. It is very good if you wish to spend time on the computer rather than drinking. Nowadays I follow the methods recommended above to just rumble around until I find something that calls out that it needs drinking. Or pick the one closest to the door or on a random shelf in the WF.I used to have a cellar book but really didn't keep it up to date.

Which reminds me that it's time to dig out a bottle of Pinot for tonight!
This could get embarrassing you realise for both of us!

I did suggest this could be embarrassing. Just change before you take the photo!Nice. I'll show mine later after I've opened it. Only 4pm here and just off to gym to work up a thirst .
Given so many on this forum have impressive collections of wine, I was wondering what software or apps people use to track their cellar.
I'm about to get more serious with storing my wine and have put together a basic Access database, but it's not very aesthetically pleasing. I'm open to suggestions of what I should use.
LOL. Why? the spiritual of discovery should be kept alive and well wrt your wine storage.I use the Cellar app. Pretty darn good. I have 2 wine fridges plus a wine rack so I need to keep everything sorted out...
I'm amazed at how many Australians don't know about the vast wine field called 'south eastern australia'. Most wine (not all) bought in the UK is marked as a product of that region, it is an internationally protected name, similar to champagne.
Nearly all wines from "South East Australia" can be had for under $10.
So the Brits go for the cheapies.

Hands down the best option is CellarTracker - Wine Reviews & Cellar Management Tools. Not only is it free, you can see reviews of others on wine you have. Takes a bit of time to input your inventory, but you can import data from Excel sheets. There are also Android and iPhone apps as device based front ends.
