Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

A bit tricky with so little information and not knowing your tastes but I've got a spare 5 mins before lunch. Maybe grapes or price range would have been a hint!

Katnook Estate Merlot 2006 or perhaps Katnook Estate Merlot 2012
Peter Lehmann Menton Cabernet 2009
Giesen Small Batch Pinot 2012
St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2012
K1 by Geoff Hardy Cabernet 2012
Maxwell McLaren Vale Shiraz 2012/2013 or Lime Cave Cabernet 2010
Cape Mentelle Shiraz 2012 or maybe Trinders Merlot
Vasse Felix Classic Dry Red 2012 or Cab Sav 2011

I am not overly familiar with Durif, this one was given to us as a gift. It was bloomin delicious and makes a nice change from the usual Cab, Shiraz or Pinot

Ah. Sorry yes, the red top I picked as the St Hallett. ( not fair to include Pinot Grigio in a Red doz!) I had the WW church block on the list and was considering the Hardy's Tintara but got distracted since my taxi to take me to lunch arrived!

I had no intention of drinking last night, but a couple of friends insisted I drop by their place. They were opening something special and knew I'd be interested.
The Monprivato is one of the most Burgundian Barolos. Soft and approachable. I've had it once before last year at a tasting, the 2009. It wasn't showing at its best. This 2010 was singing. The Rinaldi is what they got me over for though. Its a bit of a unicorn wine. The nose was certainly open for business but it was probably the most tannic wine I've ever had. This thing needs 20 years to settle down. I can see how with time it will be stunning. Then for good measure the host popped the 1978 Burgundy. Good wine, but past its best.

A likely story! Come on admit you are a closet PG drinker. :)

I will happily admit that I do not drink white wine AT ALL. I only buy it to make sure my wife or friends have something to drink. You'd see from my Epiqure purchases that the vast majority are red cases, with the occasional mixed to bring the quaffing white in my wine rack (or most likely fridge) back from the brink of extinction

Ah QF WP you need to expand your horizons. The world of wine doesn't stop at red. For example this wonderful Chardonnay from Kumeu River from North of Auckland. ( And it's their cheapest, $20 from DM, but their more expensive wines are fabulous and worth trading in your reds for.)

Woops - sorry image deleted! I'll open a new one on demand!

but I stil claim the higher ground on your visual challenge with rogue ring ins!

Want a real challenge for an image of a case of wine caps or bottles?

Got this in a DM Boutique Wine Awards 6 pack for $99. Other bottles drunk so far were good. Had high expectations on this as it had highest RRP. Not let down - in the words of Macklemore + Ryan Lewis: "This is f..... awesome."

Some may think that I need to expand my horizons, however I am comfortable with my decision. My world of wine does stop at red ;) I have never enjoyed drinking whites - the closest I come is the very occasional Moscato.

Do I want a challenge - not particularly. I don't hold out my knowledge being anywhere near others here :D

Sharing is caring but Mrs QF WP will take 4-5 nights to finish hers.

After giving a bottle of the Tintara to a client on Thursday, I thouht I'd bring 3 home in my dozen and based on JohnM's experience, thought I'd open a Tintara first.

Very impressed with how smooth this is for a 2013. Bed beckons..

I like the fact that you share at your place - a bottle each:p

Given so many on this forum have impressive collections of wine, I was wondering what software or apps people use to track their cellar.

I'm about to get more serious with storing my wine and have put together a basic Access database, but it's not very aesthetically pleasing. I'm open to suggestions of what I should use.

I use Winebase: WineBase - Wine Cellar Inventory Software
