Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I'm visiting Barringwood Park in a few months - I have heard some good things but am yet to try any of their wines

Their Pinot Noir is quite good... I have some which I "found" when locating this Chardonnay.

I will perform some taste test analysis soon... Uppy, Blacky or Cruiser - wanna come over this Sat? :p:p

I have spent a few afternoons at Barringwood when working in Latrobe.Nice lunchtime platters.
Mrsdrron likes the pinot gris. The Mill Block Pinot Noir is very good.

Also Steady - make sure you drive to the end of the road and see Lake Barrington... Even though it's fake, it can be quite beautiful at times (weather permitting)...

One of these perhaps?

(from the same trip)... Will give this one a taste test on Saturday I think.

Halliday didn't like the 08 that much, but I thought it was great a few years ago, so will be good for a comparison.

The 10 is a very nice drop...

Wine is fine - had a bottle on special from DM's the other night. But...
I'm starting to think we should be taking up a collection to buy you some proper glasses!

I have cut crystal ones and a Riedel or two, but can't be bothered digging them out for $20 wines. These glasses have sentimental attachment as they were given to me by my (now deceased) aunt. So I toast her most nights.

A couple of decades ago I would occasionally water ski on lake Barrington - I didn't appreciate wine at that age so the vineyard was not on my radar.

Lake Barrington isn't held in my fond esteem. More than 'a couple' of decades ago I blasted up and down it regularly in a rowing 8! All pain and ... some gain.

So I should get some?..................If it is still available?
Yes mate it is still there - under $23 with WISH/CR - cheap at that rate - as boomy posted don't consider at high 40a

Would be in it if free but alas have plans to spend Sat night with friends instead ;) - I am batching Sun to Thu if you have a spare nt - I can hear The Olive Tree calling me.

Tonight I decided I was going to have a very nice wine as after tomorrow I will only be home for 1 night in the next 2 months. So here is my selection-

It became one of my favourite wine when we visited the vineyard in 1972 just a few years before Cyril was shot by his wife.Bought 6 of these for just over $20 for the 6.
No real loss of volume.Cork in great condition.Colour still a dark red.
How does it rate.the best wine I have had in the last 2 years.Definitely ahead of the 74 Grange I had last year.Pure nectar.Could drink the whole bottle straight up but will leave a glass or 2 until tomorrow.Didn't rate too badly in a 2013 taste of 50 years of Hill of Grace-
Good Food - Vintage love in 50 shades of Grace.

Rating-of course-B*fantastic.

Reminds me of our workplace "Friday Caucus" at the local pub near the Quay back in the mid-late 1980s. A fellow in the back bar had a little grill set up in the corner, and if you wanted to drink red with your steak you had to go around to the bottleshop, buy it and come back and plead for some clean glasses. We went through a case of HoG over a month or two, that the bottle shop manager "found" lying around out the back - very early 80s vintage I think, not sure which. But as JessicaTam says, it is a benchmark wine.

I don't think the winery has been there a couple of decades?

I seem to remember it being quite new, but I did visit a few on that day...

Have plans. Sorry.

I could go a good steak after work, but am running out of days before I go to PER.

Sun I am seeing Blacky. Mon might work?

Yes I could have written it better - I was meaning Vineyards as in "all" or "any" not just "the" Barringwood Park one that as you say probably wasn't even there to be misses back then

I need to find more time but with work taking me away from family a lot and their age my home time doesn't include visiting cellar doors - I have a holiday house in the Tamar Valley and have only visited 20% of the vineyards. I have seen more of the Barrosa, Clare and McLaren Vale offerings while away with work than the ones in my own backyard.
