Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Secret wine (I think from MWG). Looks like another failed export.

....Deliciously different! Very well made.

Not a bad wine at all, I think their reputation went downhill when the mof_s put their magnums on the site for half of its price. Their loyalty customer complains that they didn’t get the first dip before sending it to the mof_s.

Had this tonight and I agree with this review:

Apparently awarded the title.of world's best red wine:

yes, apparently. Can’t see it myself. Wonderful PR agency.

Garagiste Le Stagiaire riesling, Chatto and Shadowfax pinot noirs - some of the cheapest and best value TWF 95-96pt wines around - yum, yum, yum - buy, buy, buy :)

Smooth and refined this Cab Sav shows so much finesse, makes it dangerously easy to drink. Very tempted to open another bottle, not something we normally do on weekday!

don't know if still available, but according to Whirlpool, all vintages of Balnaves The Tally back to 2005 are/were available at current vintage price direct from the winery

@Steady is on the money.

It put the cat among the pigeons, that's for sure. The tasting age range was 2006-2014. I won't mention the year of the faulty Howard Park as it may have been a random dodgy bottle. Besides, we couldn't really pin down what the fault was - maybe reduction and presence of mercaptans. It wasn't undrinkable but it stood out like a sore thumb from the others.

Anyway, our HP man was back at the winery yesterday and he's got the chief winemaker on the case. I'm yet to hear the verdict.

My money was on the St. Peter 13’. Large production does have their bottle variations. Was the screwcap damaged on that bottle?

How many captans do you need at a wine tasting?:p

The cap was sound. Feedback from the winemaker (on another bottle of that vintage) was that she was comfortable with the stylistic variation. Apparently in that year they used an oak variation which may have had an effect.

I think the oddity of my bottle was accentuated at our tasting by all the other wines being stylistically similar to each other.

Sounds like an excuse to me!
