Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Dinner with some dodgy AFFers in Melbourne…………At least the wines were decent 👍
On that very topic - pls see add below:

POSITIONS VACANT - Wanted - new friends - current crop somewhat lacking in brain territory - point in case - following up from penegal’s insightful response to question at recent OT pageant - ‘How was the Grange’ - ‘It’s nice’ - last night topped it:

At one point last night a certain unnamed attendee asked the question ‘Do fish come from the sea?’ - OMFG

All I could think was boom - I need some smarter friends - OT staff just nodded in agreement 👍

We finally tried a 2016 Thomas Cullity Cab Sav Malbec and it was really good. Just received a message from a friend who shared it with me. She was very impressed. Thank you @Cruiser Elite for mentioning it. Spotted it on the wine list at the University Club so gave it a shot at lunch.
Makes that overpriced overrated DM pale doesn’t it?

My first Adelina shiraz. Med weight and really approachable (I remember the shiraz mataro being a bit more grumpy). Drinking well now but no rush.

Top tier. Will be looking to grab some more.

Actually my favourite red is the top Mosswood one (year 2018 )@Cruiser Elite.
At lunch I spotted that Thomas Cullity and said to our party of three that I would pay for lunch as it was there at $230 for that one.
Restaurant prices can hurt the pocket quite a bit.
At Santini I had a light beer with my $80 rib eye steak as I was driving.
Have quite a stash of Henschke reds and Grange and at 73 I had better start on them as my sons are not into red wine.

Yep I too rate Mosswood - that bargain haul we got for $65 last year absolute steal.

Yes restaurant loadings on higher end reds put them almost out of reality many times - I think $230 for TC is up there but not over the top

How was your rib eye? The one I had there was as good a piece of non eye fillet steak I have ever had - it was perfectly coojed

Yes I ain’t too far behind you age wise so best to let the wet behind the ears kids here have their wishy washy plastic imitation Bordeaux blends they chase and you and I can drink the real stuff - hell I was even out at OT Friday nt with a coupla self proclaimed wine experts who openly stated they wouldn’t pay $130 for RWT - you see now why I am seeking new friends?

Yes dump those Pinot Noir Melburnians @Cruiser Elite. No need to get totally warped.
Mrscove will go back to QT in Perth for another steak so that worked ok at Santinis.
i am influenced by the best steaks in the US so I love Flemings and Ruths Chris in California.
Footy is starting so we may get east for a couple of games. Just hate those 737s.
