Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Oh they like me - not like the plastic peeps from AFF - unlike some elitists here I am more than happy to fraternise with average every day Australians

Didn’t know they let average Aussies enter the high class olive tree restaurant. We must find new AFF meeting place.

We had a special interstate guest join a dinner with some members of my wine group on Wed night. Tolpuddle was stunning and WOTN. The guest even brought a special wine for @JohnM. A well cellared QF special (the wine, obviously not the recipient of it).

Did the special guest bring the Tolpuddle? Sadly I was looking to come over at the same time but couldn't orgnise my clients.

He did. His last one too...well at least of the 2014. You need better clients that will work around your drinking ;)

I picked up a few of these on a trip to Margaret River in Jan. Stella Bella are making some outstanding wines. This one was a vintage release but still smells / taste pretty youthful. Black and red fruits on the nose and palate with some smoky/oaky taste that mostly dissipated with air time. Drinking well now at 12 years young…

Opened this tonight. Nose was pretty decent but lacked mid-palate. Paid $25 for this in 2010 so makes this decent QPR. I really feel that Bin 28 has gone downhill compared to vintages from the 1990s. Can't imagine it's got better with current vintages and asking price at $50, but easy enough to get at $40, there really is better value out there these days.

Yes glorious in the 90's. I first knew this wine as just Kalmina, not "bin28" which I can't remember as even being on the label in the 80's.
Could it even have much Kalimna vineyard sourced grapes anymore I wonder given volume now made, and "kalimna" isn't even on the label anymore. Still an ok wine, but it's not Kalimna, those are in cellars only.

Drinking the 2016 and it's gone completely thin on Day 2. Quite dissapointing even when I normally pay $25. Torbreck woodcutters was miles better

Celebrating my dad’s birthday at Le Monument.
14 courses, 7 premium wines. Phenomenal restaurant, strongly recommend visiting when in Porto.
