Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Celebrating my dad’s birthday at Le Monument.
14 courses, 7 premium wines. Phenomenal restaurant, strongly recommend visiting when in Porto.

Stunning. Very intense and rich, mushroom, leather, cigar, dried figs, some phenol, earthy. Just brilliant. Changes brilliantly over time to open up more flavour .

Friend brought this last night. He got it in a cellamasters (or similar) pack for $250 a mixed doz. List price is $480.00. :)

Jeez. It's a very nice wine but $480? Who are they kidding?

Random smattering of stuff, as I was just reminded about this thread.
  • Ar Pe Pe - pretty, elegant, amazing wines.
  • Rinaldi > Burlotto.
  • Comtes > UC (though maybe unfair, given the UC with bottle age would be a lot more interesting)
  • Rostaing... tired... Gaillard... fresh, but also wonder if it would ever materially shift and evolve.
  • Redon Le Plat, amped and intense but balanced - dark and coiled.
