Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Birthday dinner at Olive Tree for one of my nieces last night - pity she was ‘cyclone imprisoned’ at Noosa at the time - still the show must go on huh?

We were considerate enough to FaceTime her with a lovely rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ as we quaffed the night away 👍🥂🍷

What did you think of the 1911?

How was the Saltram Journal? I am interested to know whether it is ready to drink yet. Thanks.

Very surprised any are drinkable!

Well, you'd be completely surprised, then.

We ended up opening the first ten and all were incredibly sound. The 2002 Moss Wood displayed the greatest primary fruit characters and, for me, it was a toss-up between that and the 2005 Basket Press as the best. But there wasn't much in it between them and the other eight. Extraordinarily close field.

Those under cork still had sound closures.

Peter has a large cellar somewhere outside his home. Despite the dusty appearance of the bottles, they have all been well-stored.

We opened the half-ullaged bottle for a laugh. Of course it was stuffed.

Gradually, blokes had to drift off for family and other commitments, so a few stayers finished off a great afternoon chewing the fat over a couple of cult Talijancich stickies.
