Nightmares at LHR

Most of the warnings at LHR atm seem to be for flight departing in the evenings, Im really hoping the mornings are less hectic for departures. I have an 8:30am flight on BA and even though Im staying in a hotel at the terminal, I plan to be there when checkin opens at 5am (for J).

If flying Y without status, you can only check in 3 hours before I believe.

However Overnight Bag Drop is available if you are travelling on a flight departing before 13:00, you can check in your bags between 18:00 – 21:00 the day before.
Thanks for that, interesting that they have reinstated overnight bag drop. They keep dropping it for security concerns. That being said, I am flying carry on only on this run. Not going to risk the baggage handlers.

Just saw on Friends FB that she was on QF2 Yesterday, arrived at LHR 4 hours before departure, took 2.5 hours to clear security. She is betting her luggage wont be onboard when she lands in SYD.
Golly. Do you know what time of the day it was?

Yep this is what Heathrow's website suggests but what is unclear is who on QF metal gets access?
I’m flew BA on OW emerald and it said Fast Track on the BA app, and then on my boarding pass. But then there wasn’t any fast track at T5 anyway. Maybe it’s changed in the last couple of weeks. If you’re QF WP you should be eligible if it’s open.

T5 “Fastrack“ for OWEs is the dedicated BA First Class check in area. It was a sea of tranquility a few weeks ago. Efficient bag drop, dedicated security and e-Gate immigration reader that plonks you straight into the 1st Class lounge.

I’d forgotten how wonderful that setup is. I hope you didn’t miss it?

There is also a fast track security lane at T5 South, which is convenient for the BA Galleries South lounge (OWS). The First wing is located at T5 North. T5 S is more convenient if you arrive by tube, I find.

Other way around? Concorde, 1st and a Galleries/Club lounges are South and there’s a Galleries/Club North in T5A. (Plus now a Club lounge in T5B).

Entering T5 the first class checkin is on the far right (south) in Zone J.

Yep this is correct for T5.

Just got done over by the cap. BA cancelled my LHR>EDI flight in 4 weeks time... :( No other AM departures, only PM...
Any LCY or LGW options? You should be able to switch to anything available.
