Nightmares at LHR

How is T3. We are coming in on SQ but flying out on BA though that is to BCN so will probably end up on IB.

That would be T2 (“The Queens” terminal) and home of the Starry Alliance.

It was fine back in late March arriving on SQ but there’s been plenty of water and Poo sticks under the bridge since then…

One mile at a time has an interesting statement from Emirates...

I 100% agree with Emirates and the airport threatening to take legal action against those who don't reduce flights is a joke.

If it’s any consolation, BA staff are due for a summer strike about now so that might help ease congestion…

But you took it? Do you still get points and SCs as originally booked?
I didn't, was rebooked on the 1415 LHR-EDI. Long layover in LHR, but with the current delays it will probably be needed. Plus LNER is just as bad at cancellations currently.

And did the 14:15 depart on time? Did your luggage arrive in EDI?

I was just on the phone SYD+1 who’s flying out of LHR tomorrow to AMS 🙀 but reminded me that arrival at T5 from MAD on IB last week was similar experience to yours. 15 mins from airbridge to land-side, including checked luggage!
The e-gates have made a huge difference. When I flew into LHR around 4 years ago I waited in the manual queue for an hour and a half after 32 hours of travel from Tasmania. The next couple of times I flew in and out of Italy as a consequence (no e-gates but it was much quicker). Whereas when I arrived at LHR T2 last month, I just breezed through the e-gates. So much more efficient for everyone.

Just got done over by the cap. BA cancelled my LHR>EDI flight in 4 weeks time... :( No other AM departures, only PM...

So sorry to hear that.

Thankfully atm my LHR-EDI the week before your appears to be sticking, but its a tight connection so I may also end up on a arvo or worse still evening flight.

Just a datapoint that FRA last weekend was ok arriving long haul Int (EK) and our priority bags came quickly. A moderate number of bags sitting waiting collection (presumably not going to happen as pax will have left) and pax waiting bags to come from other flights. US carriers appeared to be the worst affected of the longer haul int arrivals.

Domestic and Euro Lufthansa apparently (per Germans telling me….) significantly affected and running a cancellation rate up to the mid double digits…..

Apparently LHR T5 was pretty busy mid-morning on Friday. A queue to get into the First / OWE checkin area that later stretched about 50m outside but was moving ok. Lounge wasn’t packed (like it often is early morning with all the inbound connecting PAX). Flight to AMS was delayed 90mins (late inbound aircraft) but did make to AMS along with checked luggage!

But now even the trains are going out in sympathy… SYD+1 is booked 1st class train from AMS Central to Köln on a train that’s supposed to go all the way to Frankfurt…
Due to equipment shortages, some of the ICE International trains will not run beyond Düsseldorf until July 31, 2022. In Düsseldorf you can change to the regional German train to your booked final destination. Your ticket is valid on the route you booked.

Fly to LHR T2 Saturday via BKK. returning mid August. Will report on arrivals and departure. We are only carrying cabin baggage, as we have family there. Not going to risk it with Hold baggage.

JB Hifi had Tile tags on sale (for those who dont know Tile is the original GPS tracker, Apple copied the concept for air tags, but Tile works on Android and iPhone and has more users globally); as some extra insurance to understand where my checked bags are.

Will make sure and have a couple of days of clothes in my carry-on (and will reuse the QF Pjs); which will hopefully mean if my bags are delayed I will have essentials until they get to me. My only real concern is my London stay, as it airbnb everywhere is hotels so receptio can accept deliveries for me.
