Nightmares at LHR

GLA an option for you ?
Given I'm enroute to Leuchars its really the wrong side of the country. I could go there, but not seeing any availability in the fare class.

Amusingly the only linkage that i can see is via BFS...

Open the booking in BA.com or BA app and you hopefully will be given options to rebook?
I wish it worked like that:

BA8702 LCY-EDI departs 08:40a. So long as you’re not trying to connect at LHR…?

Yeah, flying into LHR at 0535, could make it to LCY... If they will let me change airports on a connecting flight. Knowing my luck it will probably fail the MCT.

T5 “Fastrack“ for OWEs is the dedicated BA First Class check in area. It was a sea of tranquility a few weeks ago. Efficient bag drop, dedicated security and e-Gate immigration reader that plonks you straight into the 1st Class lounge.

I’d forgotten how wonderful that setup is. I hope you didn’t miss it?
I did miss it. I asked BA staff about fast track and they just waved at the DIY baggage drop off area. They said nothing about a direct entry. That’s disappointing.

Usually I catch the train everywhere in Europe so this is my first time in T5. I wasted a good 15 minutes figuring out the the north/south lounge distinction. I might stick to the train next time.

With the Elizabeth line open there are options from 1hr+ LHR T3 to LCY (but obviously with luggage). Unless you’re on a deadline, the arvo flight is probably safer.

Arvo flight i may as well just go to KXSP and catch the east coast rail.
We got the train back from NCL to KGX (drove from EDI the roundabout way through Lakes District and Yorkshire...) in late April. I was surprised that it wasn’t awful.

Yeah. It’s normally not terrible. I’ll be coming back EDB-KGX (thanks, couldn’t remember the code) a week after I arrive. Stupidly I just thought that I would save some time and money by jumping on BA to EDI on the way in as I would already be at LHR anyway.

Edit: got onto QF booking, and the guy offered me "another choice of airline. London to Edinburgh on LNER." Had to tell him that LNER wasn't an airline, but a train line 😂

Currently waiting for luggage at terminal 5 Heathrow. Been here 3 hours. Announcements say to leave the airport and put in a request on line at BA. Luggage said to arrive in about 2 days. Not great, as I am only in London for 2 days. What a joke!
Not good at all!

Where did you fly in from?

But you took it? Do you still get points and SCs as originally booked?

Meanwhile at Gatwick last night I was through the e gates and baggage collection without a single wait. Bag was first onto the conveyer belt (thank you OW priority tag). Unfortunately the flight was late because we had to sit on the tarmac for 1 hour due to the number of planes already circling Gatwick. You never want to hear the announcement “staff will now serve a complimentary snack and drink” before you’ve started moving.

I was just on the phone SYD+1 who’s flying out of LHR tomorrow to AMS 🙀 but reminded me that arrival at T5 from MAD on IB last week was similar experience to yours. 15 mins from airbridge to land-side, including checked luggage!

Came from Olbia, Sardinia. Awful experience for anyone on their first flight to London. It would put you off coming here for life!
So, now my short trip in London will be shopping for clothes and toiletries...my pet hate!
Hopefully my bags will arrive in Gothenburg..
