Nightmares at LHR

2 of my flights after the 7th, 1 is before. If there are cancellations I expect to accommodated on a later flight as all the routes im flying have upward of 10 flights a day and im on the first or 2nd flight each day.

Try changing if you would like another flight at a more desired time?

I just want to fly my scheduled flights at this stage, as I've already changed my accommodation to ensure Im staying at hotel in case luggage goes astray and needs to be delivered (was at an airbnb) and also staying at airport hotel night before departure to make sure I can check in as soon as they open.

DUB is also bad. I arrived on 15th, rough guess 1000 uncollected bags lying around in baggage collection area, and mine wasnt one of them 😡

On departure on the 23rd, i heeded warnings to arrive 3hrs early, so did everyone, yet check in wasnt open yet. So whats the point of arriving early!

70 of us converged from everywhere for our trip to Ireland through DUB and BHD, 10 or so if us didnt get our golf clubs. Only 1 got them later. AFAIK nobody else been notified their gear has been found.

You may have seen photos of a massive pile of golf clubs at Edinborough airport doing the rounds a week ago, this was in front of the oversize lodgement spot in the departures hall, waiting to be put through. One of our guys was told to just add his to the pile and would be put on the plane in time. 12 days on... still nothing

Different airport but Frankfurt airport ok this morning except no fast track lanes open. Took 45 mins to get to lounge. Now to see whether my bag arrives.

LHR remains a nightmare, flew in on QF1 today, which was an hour late, left me with 90 mins for connection. Was first off the plane from upper deck, walked swiftly to transfer was in bus to T3 within 5 mins, but the security queues (indeed the queues to even get into security were chaotic and lengthy no fast track (and no calling people forward for flights already boarding) and i would have missed my flight but for insisting i be allowed to queue jump when was within 10mins of departure.

Of course my luggage didnt make it, tile trackers show both bags still at LHR some 12 hours later. No BA staff at EDI for lost luggage, online form only option and its broken so saves with option to receive updates by email or sms as disabled, and it wont allow me to update.

Call centre useless. I had to find a way to complete a customs release and email (no acknowledgement of course) because no one at EDI to provide.

Ive no condidence will see my bags again, have only got 2 days of clothes, no compensation offered (when AA lost my bags a decade or so ago i was told upfront theyd cover $250).

Its cold and wet and my puffer and umbrella are in that checked luggage, havent not managed to find a store here that has a puffer in my size.

Everyone complains about Qantas but I reckon BA are a million times worse, at least QF have baggage people at all capital city airports.

Furious that there is no easy way forward.

FYI tile trackers work brilliantly, knew bags were on QF flight in Syd and Sin and when landed at LHR. Couple of thousand users in area each time, im sure sales going through roof.

Arriving at Terminal 2 was fine this evening. The air tags are great. Really reassuring to see your bag is in Heathrow with you.
We were the third flight on the baggage belt so quite a wait but was able to see when our bag was about to appear.

Staying at the Sofitel tonight and flight to Barcelona in the morning.

BA only give you option of reporting lost luggage via the website (which must have been built by the work experience kids that Qantas rejected), it doesnt appear to update.

Tile tells me that both bags are now at EDI (so hopefully i will get them today), but BA website says they are still looking for my bags

As an aside BAs web form asks you to give them luggage lock combination of course i refused they have no right to go through my bags.

Good to know that Tile is working well....I bought 2 for my next OS trip.

Whilst there may be more apple air tag users, so far it seems airport workers and enough fellow travellers have tile on their phones. Ymmv in smaller ports.

I bought 4 - put inside pockets on inside of checked suitcase, checked travelpack, carry-on suitcase and one in my handbag.

Opted not to use the holders that go on outside less they be removed.

At gate for our flight to BCN. The gate agent announced a delay but added the late arrival was just a couple of minutes but due to the usual utter chaos here at Terminal 5 we will be boarding a half hour late.

So evidently bags arrived at EDI last night at 6pm, havent been contacted and told will likely take 72 hours to clear customs - what a joke. Heading to airport now, hoping i can retrieve bags and declare customs in person, buggered if i will wait anither 3 days for clothes. On what planet is it acceptable to hold luggage hostage?

Considering this is a “frequent Flyer” forum, I seriously have to question why anyone needs to check luggage at all?

Because carry on limits mean it is not possible to travel for extended periods across multiple climates with just carry on, plus liquids etc. Plus part of joy of travel is shopping.

Checked lugage is part of the flight service, you can choose not to use it, but others expect to get service they pay for.
