No J classics online / JASA costs [temporarily] jumped dramatically

Also got a call back from the Prem Desk - they have no timeframe now :-(....not sure what is going on but it must be something major - it's now going to be around 2 days with no classic award online :-C

Hopefully this won't become more with the Easter long weekend break and reduced staff...

you beat me to it Mille!!!

Just booked a JASA SYD/MEL for 21K which is about right...

There could be a slight increase from 03MAY once QF puts in their 3rd fuel surcharge hike...

Great news!!!

I got CBR-SYD-BNE for 16K + $160. The same flights in J were $835 so I'm happy with that :)

(inversely, they were $325 in Y).

Interesting that all the economy options - red edeal, super saver, etc - have now combined into one on some days.

Thanks to markis10 for calling me to say they were back up.

Good one QF , 2 days after I book my PER/BNE on red e-deal

Oh well, looks like an ADL and another PER trip will happen before 23 May, so I might get to use them for 2 or 3 of those sectors.

No can do. After denying that there was any issue with the website, the Premium Desk backpedalled when challenged and advised that the 'glitch' only applied to whY awards. The agent conferred with her 'senior' who provided that information. I'd call back but I've just spent close to 30 minutes on the phone and can't stuffed going through another 30 minute convo.

Has anybody noticed the huge jump in JASA this morning compared to 2 days ago, specifically BNE-SYD, BNE-HBA

As has MEL-SYD - 20k to 80k across the board, despite 16k Classics being around...

Looks like the end of the JASA status run, and possibly the end of JASA's actually being any sort of useful way to redeem points when Classic Awards are available and so much cheaper.

What a day to do it on too! Oh dear, QF...

Yes - classic award pricing seems to have gone :(

But the classic awards are there.....

International JASAs are now ultra-pricy (they're still reasonable yesterday)! Wonder if the cheap fares will be back again :?:

I do worry that this is a permanent enhancement; would love someone from QF to dispel that, but it's a pretty big deal otherwise.

Shame on me for waiting to see how good these new May 1 JQ 'enhancements' were before booking my JASAs for this month. Serves me right! :(

Hopefully it is just a repeat of the system issues that started this thread in the first place and will come right

Fingers crossed

Hmm, this is certainly putting a dampener on my SC run for Gold. No reasonable JASAs for the foreseeable future for me (ex-BNE). Not even a TSV-ADL, TSV-DRW or CBR-HBA! *grumble grumble*

The last time this happened was last month and it seemed like an eternity to fix it but it was probably fixed in about 4 days.
I wonder if QF get hits of 220k or over a million by folks who cannot wait and book anyway.

At least some (slight) good news. Had managed to book 2 x JASA BNE-SYD and SYD-BNE. This was booked on 2 separate 1 way tickets for 2 PAX each - 2 tickets for 2 reasons, the most significant being snagging the Friday cheap JASA while it was available then waiting for the Amex points transfer for the return, but also the ability to cancel the return for full credit (as it is not "partly flown") if required. JASA also for two reasons - the SC, and the ability to refund or change.

Travel was for this Friday, and return on Saturday. Now due to work loads, a change of plan, only 1 PAX, and return same day late at night.

A dummy change attempt online simply converts the JASA to a dollar amount (at a pathetic rate - probably because it was a cheapy at the "classic plus a few points" rate), then offers the full fares. Not looking good.

With the current (hopefully temporary) issues, a replacement JASA (I could just cancel for a refund, and rebook), is going to cost 4x the points (and have no points anyway after booking JASAs - including a 2 pax BNE-HKG return for next year also at "classic plus" cost, before the +++ increases).

A call to QF call centre, on hold a couple of times, and the tickets are split to allow one PAX to be refunded, then some more fiddling "this is a bit more complicated than a commercial fare", and the change is done (I had checked U class was available on the flight I wanted - just the ridiculous online JASA quote). All changed, refund request queued for processing, total cost of change - zero. Well done QF.

Interestingly, whilst fiddling around trying to make the change (before having to put me on hold again), the very friendly agent pointed out that the classic award (with the U availablity) would cost slightly less points and charges. I replied that not only was I interested in the SC earn, but knowing we may need to cancel one, the JASA was fully refundable, whereas there was a point penalty on the classic, so it made sense. Agent fully understood, and was very helpful.

As a mere PS, I don't get the premium desk, but have a feeling I must have called at a quiet time and hit someone who would normally handle those calls.
