No more QF chauffeur drive to LAX and DFW

Rightio, I will call.

You'd think they would call all customers who were eligible to advise them of the cancellation, not just those with confirmed CD bookings.

I wouldn't of known about this had I not been an AFF member...I'm sure Qantas has many customers who would also be unaware of the recent changes?

there is no need to call customers without a booking. The provision of the service is subject to withdrawal at any time, and you would see that if you went to book it.

If you hold a full fare ticket you can simply cancel and fly another airline. If you are on an award ticket, you could request to cancel or, since there is hardly any other choice anyway, stick with what you have.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

But the CSA is, of course, completely correct. You have transport options such as Cathay Pacific, United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand to name but a few.

Take the hint! Do what Qantas wants you to do. Fly with some-one else! Join the club.

She was actually referring to AirTrain, hire car, private car or bus. I had a confirmed booking that I had "paid" for as part of the fare. The compensation is welcome but not adequate.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

G'Day all; further to my earlier posts re cancellation of CD on flights home to BNE-LAX 6Jul, and DFW-BNE to home 9Aug, and my discussions w/QF CSA, I received the promised call-back last Friday after the 'decision from above', and have been approved for 10k points for each cancelled CD ie total 20k. The agent was very apologetic, but the unstated message was "em tasol", as our norther neighbours would say. As SWMBO stated, I should have made separate bookings for us, and then would have had separate CDs, thus twice the number of points!
Anyway, we should see the points credited in about three weeks ... Old Oirish Mate's advisers have certainly not starred with this enhancement!

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Obie, its just another poorly implemented Q change.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

i was thinking about that...

with (let's say) 250 staff working M-F (based on the numbers stated in the call centre closures), if they each made just 2 calls a day, and it's been 16 working days since the announcement... that is at least 8000 bookings they have had to cancel.

one wonders exactly how much the overheads were for this 'low uptake' service.

But there are say 3 flights a day to North America. The various aircraft have between 56 and 78 first/business seats. Let's say 60 seats on average. Say bookings for 300 days in advance. That's 18000 potential CD bookings. Allow for couples and such and 8000 could be about right.

yes - but according to Qantas no one has availed themselves of the service. So one wonders how it can take so long to get around to calling people.

Although maybe the call centre has a lot on their plate advising passengers of cancelled First class bookings, cancelled car bookings, and assisting them to work out how many SCs they'll earn come 1 July.

busy call centre.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Got the call today. Flying from LAX in July. Was offered 10k points, or the lady offered to book a complimentary car transfer from MEL for me. They are offering the same service as that cancelled...huh?!

I was told that the offer of increasing one level in QFF status was only being offered to the lower tier FFs (ie Bronze). For a NB to be offered PS, is like offering a fish a bicycle.

It does give an extra 9,000 points on a SYD-LAX return, though. So not too far off the 10,000 points offer.

What a shambles.

I cant believe what I'm hearing.
Oh, BTW still waiting for points compensation. :(

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Speaking with the driver at MEL - apparently Brunel management were told by QF that it is purely a cost cutting measure. The driver reported taking many CD pax for both LAX and LHR on a regular basis (both ways)... he knew what the QF media release said and the consensus among drivers it that is a lie.

Speaking with the driver at DFW - he had no idea that CD was being canned from July 1. Same company does transfers for both CD and QF cabin crew.

I don't think there is a "Standard", on this thread alone we've seen (in order of occurrence):

10kpts per booking
10kpts each transfer
Offer to fast track to next QFF status
manual booking of CD

So far, no response like "Oh sorry, that was a really stupid corporate decision to annoy our premium passengers. Just hang on a bit, and we'll soon enhance the program with so many other benefits* that you don't miss it. (* benefit to us of course.). No, that does not mean we will reinstate it. Or maybe we will. I dunno, nobody knows what's happening around here. You lot who get on planes really mess up our wonderful airline. Have a nice day."

Now that's something that could be reported to the ACCC.

I finally got a call 2 weeks ago for the 4 different CD bookings we have upcoming.

The poor lady was really frazzled on the phone, you could tell she wasn't enjoying this part of the job.

She offered 10k points, to which I asked if that was per person, per booking or what. She said per booking. I asked if that was 10k at the AU end as well as 10k in the USA end. She just said flat 10k.

I said it is unacceptable and to please escalate it to someone else.

I got a subsequent call from a senior customer service person about 2 days later again offering the 10k per booking. I again refused and was told, that's as good as it is going to get.

I again refused and have asked that all I want is the transfers, so have told them I'll submit receipts for these to QF for reimbursement.

She said good luck with that and that pretty well ended the call.

I have no need for any QFF points all I want is what I paid for, surely that's not hard.

Let the fun and games begin!

Now, who is a good limo company to use in MEL, DFW and JFK?

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Any chance someone can keep score here - maybe a list of the various compensation offers? You know like:

1. 10,000pts / pax / booking
2. 10,000pts / booking
3. etc etec

Any value? Would certainly make very interesting reading if nothing else- and maybe provide ammo for those yet to be contacted.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

A sign of things to come....

just booked U class for next June for my wife SYD-LHR, and of course want to book car.

"Sorry, you are not eligible to book a transfer from the airport."

Is this beacuse of financial year/ length of time til flight, or a sign that ALL CDs will be "enhanced?

Or are they going to VA model where not all business seats are equal?
