[No More, QF selling PE Now]QF107/108 LAX/JFK Premium seating in WHY

PE to JFK is officially available on the 4th July, so up to that point people may still be lucky and get seated appropriately :)

And I've seen another Qantas reference as to the start date of LAX-JFK as from 29 March 2009 - ie. yesterday.

Not sure what to believe at this stage.

Am I right in assuming that row 51 only has the centre block of seats on the Pacific configured 747s? What is in front of 52BC? Bulkhead?

Am I right in assuming that row 40 is the first row of WHY on the kangaroo configured 747s and along with row 41 form a mini cabin of WHY behind premium economy?

52BC has bulkhead, so has 52A. 52 H/J/K are crew rest.

&

Yes.

So would you say these are acceptable seats and not to bother with exit rows?

I don't know what other people feel but I have been thinking about trying to allocate something like 52CD and 40CD where we will be across from one another in an aisle seat instead of a middle seat.

It's up to you; you're a solid guy. How solid is your Father? Would you be rubbing shoulders?

Across aisles in economy has worked fine for me in the past.

I am much bigger than my father and I would rather have him in the middle seat than some of the people that have sat next to me in the past.

I think I will let him decide what he wants to do. He prefers a window seat, but there is no way I am sitting in a middle seat, and there is not a lot to see over the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean at night....

Following my post last week on this issue where I was allocated 34A&B I now find that I have been bumped to 52B&C - not complaining as I am 6'2" and there is a little more leg room and nobody reclining in front of you.

Except that 34 will now be at PE spacing with even greater leg-room....

I just booked an itinerary ex OZ to/from New York.

On the QF107/QF108 segment I have been (automatically) preallocated in Y+ seating, sold as WHY.

I guess Qantas are not selling Y+ between LAX and JFK.

Hey serfty,

I booked two tickets for the same. On the way out I was given Y+. I rang up and she said yes it was Y+ and that the booking system was broken and was putting people in automatically. I asked on the way back any chance of moving us? :) She said yes. Anyway, 2 weeks later, they moved us to the back because a whole group of unaccompanied minors and school group joined the flight on both out/in. We are now like sitting in 68 or 71 or something rediculous....

She said QF107/108 all now have Y+ even between LAX and JFK.

Oh well, good things never last hey! I flew SFO-SYD 2 weeks ago and was put in Y+, not complaining, it was great!!!! for using a points booking on normal WHY class.

Row 34 spacing will not have changed; just it will be catered PE rather than WHY.

Now I am confused.

So they will be selling the seats as PE (one can book them on-line now), supply PE catering but at only normal WHY seat spacing??

If I paid for PE at WHY spacing I would not be happy.

However I have only paid for discount-WHY.

If I have understood your advice correctly even though I am currently showing as 35...I should contact QF to get a firm allocation in the WHY section....as if I wait I will eventually just get bumped further back anyway with randomeseats being given???

Or do I just hold and hope that not enough PE's are sold?

Use seat counter to check your flight, if there are ANY entries for W or T class, I would call Qantas and confirm a good seat pre-allocation.

Please read my OP. When I started this thread PE was not being sold between JFK and LAX by Qantas and some passengers travelling in WHY with status were being preallocated in these seats (still WHY service but). Since then they have decided to start selling PE and many of those pre allocations were changed.

Some weren't; in my case with two flights, one was and one was not. The one that was not was still showing ~35H but no Orange seat appeared on the C/M/T seat map. I called qantas to fix this.

I will edit my OP and the thread title to reflect the change.

My advice: DO NOT CALL

Booked into bOgan on QF107 and QF108, after I entered AA numbers on BA.com I was lucky to see "seat requests" of 37A,B (woohoo!) and return [down the far back] on the Qantas site.

I called just now to try my luck on the return leg because PE seats were showing as available.

But alas forget about the return leg, I've lost the PE seats! I was told that my seat "request" of 37J,K was "denied" and that I "had been allocated" 69G,F.

Now looking at the booking online, it shows seat request 69G,F. Did she change it?

I think you would have lost those seats anyway.

When QANTAS starts selling a particular class, then those people who paid for a different class tend to get moved.

E.g. if you bought a J class fare on a flight sold as two class (J/Y), but were lucky enough to be put into a first class seat (because it was a 3 class plane), but then QANTAS decided to start selling First class, you'd normally get moved back to a J seat.

You're probably right, but I still had those seats showing a reasonable amount of time after PE went on sale - and it seems from previous posts some have been lucky enough to get seated there in the end.

Anyway I got the impression she deliberately changed it when she could have just left it. Why do that, it seems a bit nasty considering I'm OW Sapphire.

My seats were showing as unavailable in expert flyer and now they show as available.

Yes, but under what class? W? or Y?

Using T for the seatmap. I'm assuming it was never available as Y (?).

Interestingly I don't seem to be able to see economy seats using any of the codes??

Mine too, but when I rang up, she said the bookings had changed, I said why didn't it update on web? It's usually live. She said well it isn't in this case. She could clearly see I was in 37 and then said I was moved to the back!!!

Thanks SnowYeti, I guess it's possible our seats were changed earlier without it reflecting on the locator, but all indications suggest it was changed when I called. I was told that my seats had already changed when the aircraft was changed to a replacement - LOL. I said I'm looking online and it's still there and was told "you didn't pay for it so you wont get it, your seat request was denied". Damn grumps.

I only paid O and don't expect anymore but it's disappointing to have the rug pulled by some do-gooder for no reason.

So now I need to find a decent spot in economy, but I can't find Y seats in expertflyer? Am I forgetting something? What's the code for economy?
