Question:

Did those that have received cards, get their card and then their activation letter? Or Vice versa?

I received today Tuesday my activation letter, but I have no card yet.

I am wondering if my card has gone missing????

Hi lovetravellingoz,
I received both the card and the letter at the same time (same date of the letters in each), each dated 18 September.

Let us know when the card arrives...

Bloody CitiBank....

I spend 10 minutes filling out their application form, press submit, then get presented with:

Sorry, we are unable to process your request. Please call CitiPhone Banking on 13 24 84 for more details.

So I tried again (figuring the server may have been down briefly), same problem.

Then I receive two confirmation e-mails, saying they've received my application and will contact me shortly.

We're not off to a good start...

Cheers,
- Febs.

Febs,
Will you phone to ensure that 2 applications are not entered, which might look bad on a credit report? Just in case Citi can't work out this is an error due to their website malfunctions...

Just an update, I had actually called citibank customer service, because I had recieved my citibank silver a couple of weeks ago. She told me that I was able to apply for this offer and just cancel my silver one once I got accepted. Unfortunately because I didn't have my silver card for at least 9 months, I wasn't able to get the gold card.

What a shame, I was so excited thinking I would be able to get it, plus the huge saving of no annual fee for life. So, just a heads up for anyone in the same situation as me.

My card and account info arrived together today (20th). Interestingly, the cover letter with the card was dated 15th and the acceptance letter and info was dated 18th. (Gotta love Aus Post)
11 days from Go to Whoa. Not too bad.
I asked for a supplementary card and there appears to be no charge for that either. Two Gold cards, free forever, with awards at 1:1 transfer ratio to QFF. Seems too good to be true. ---Time will tell!

They told me that I will get a decision in the mail in 3-5 days' time. Does that mean I got rejected, as some people in this thread got emails if they were successful? Or did any one who got approved not get an email, but just got the approval in the mail?

I received a phone call with the advoce you've posted.
You will also get an e-mail soon, likely an approval.
Within days you should receive two letters, one with the card and the other regarding the 100pt check.

Look at the recent reports and you will find you are a few days ahead of receiving the approval, card and ID check letter.

Well latest update.

Today Weds received TWO more letter.

One had the card and all the terms & conditions.

the second had the 100 point check with two methods to achieve it. Looks easy enough.

The letter yesterday had my TPIN number which they said I would need to activate the card.

the only thing is thought that I just activated the card......and no option to use it..and they did not ask for it??

Still card is activated though I stll need to do the 100 point check otherwise they may stop it.

TIP:: Additional Cardholder for free

On my letter it states that Primary cradholder is free (or thaere $0) per year.

It also says that additional cardholders will be free.

On activating the Card they asked if I wanted an additional card. I said yes for my wife.

BUT listen to the fine print they read back...they said at $30 per year.

So I just politely said no the offer said $0 per year, and aftera bit of tooing and froing the operator accepted and put it through. So watch out for this

I note the age for an additional cardholder is 15...so this will be a further bonus for me as I wil get one for my 15 year old daughter who will be in France this Xmas asa source of emergency cash and asa way to pay for things.

Note: In my case I prefer an additional cardholder rather than a completely second card as:
1/ the 10,000 point minimum to transfer points.
2/ the total of 60,000 points if enforced meets my needs as I use AMEX where I can. Though I will have to check that I get the points from the second cardholder as I am only assuming that I do.
3/ It saves having the complication of paying two cards per month.

FYI, per the info pack - Zurich Assist intl. travel insurance conditions- which may mean you don't qualify for insurance on your trips:
  • requires purchase with citi card of overseas travel ticket;and
  • requires you take a Citi Gold statement proving ticket was purchased with the card (or through Citi's 'take flight' or 500 reward points programs)
Unlike ANZ Gold (Allianz or QBE?) policy which activates through $250+ card expenditure (such as for a hotel room, not necessarily tickets).

Luckily I paid for this year's ANZ Gold through rewards.
Beware Citi and Zurich's insurance conditions!

I already have a Citibank Gold card - the non-promo type, with the annual fees. I've had it for a couple of years now. Does anybody know about about the process of changing over to the same card with the no-annual fee? Has anybody had any success with it? Thanks

I called Citibank twice, and both were told that I have to apply online, go through all the credit assessments.

Once approved, I can call Citibank again, then combine the credit limits together

T& Cs re additional Card Holder:

Says that reward points may only be redeemed for Qantas FF points by the Primary Cradholder.

So hence this means that the additional cardholder does earn points....

Thanks.

...my next trip was paid on AMEX Gold...

But yes always fine print....

Well I tried. First chance I got to call was at 5pm (actually 4:58pm). Called up their "24hr hotline", and spoke to someone who took all my details, then told me the dept I need to speak to closed at 5pm.

I'm considering cancelling this before it goes any further...I had bad experiences with CitiBank when I was about 12 years old (they sent me personalised credit card applications on two occasions), and I see nothing's changed...

We'll see how it goes.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I'm pretty sure that points are earned on both cards, but can only be transferred to QF by the primary cardholder.

AMEX-Qantas Premium. The close-off date was 31 August.
Re: Citibank Gold (No annual fee ever) I received a phone call yesterday from Citibank confirming approval.
Kind regards

Hi Lovetravellingoz

AMEX-Qantas Premium rather than Platinum. The close-off date was 31 August. First spend was last week, but no bonus points allocated at this stage.

Called up today and confirmed that only one application actually went through.

Well that's one positive thing I guess. :)
They also called payroll today, I'm told.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Got my card today ..... Yep the letter said $0 annual fee and $0 additional card fee ..... however when ring up Phillipines Citibank Centre to activate the card (and order additional card) they are not sure about those fees themselves ...... So make sure u keep the letter of offer in case u have to argue with them.
