We went further down the coast to Colwyn Bay where I had read about a reasonable restaurant so we gave it a try.

We shared the salt and pepper calamari which was good.
.
Mrsdrron had the mussels which were very good and I had the steak.also very good.
..
For the desserts mrsdrron had the pavlova which was a little disappointing.
.
I had the citrus tart which was exquisite though after mrsdrron had a taste we swapped plates.

Definitely recommended.

Monday arrives and we set off for the drive south to Milford Haven.Another room for breakfast and this morning tried the kippers with a sausage and tomato.

I had noticed what I thought was a monument on a hill near the hotel so on our way out I drove up to it.
.
Turned out to be a folly erected by the then owners of the Bodysgallen hotel in 1992.good views though.

Passed an old castle.
.
The road south was through Snowdonia.Not much at higher altitudes.

Got caught behind 2 garbage trucks in this town so plenty of time for photos.

Just past this village we came across a service station that had unleaded at 1.27 GBP per litre so filled up as that was the cheapest we had seen it.Naturally the next place had it at 1.26 and the one after at 1.25.

Next came Fishguard that I wanted to see as it was the site of the last invasion of the UK mainland by the French in 1797.They were soundly trounced.

However the streets here were so narrow,parking at a premium even a fair distance from town so eventually gave up in frustration.

We drove on to our accommodation for the next 2 nights-an apartment at Smokehouse quay in Milford Haven.It is on AirBNB but as usual we did not book through them.A stop at Tescos for some supplies before we got there.

How did you like the Patagonian Malbec? It is a much smaller production area there, around Neuquen, compared with Mendoza but there are some cracking producers. I haven’t tried Vinalba.

Quite a few villages,towns we have passed through in Wales have brightly coloured houses.I presume it is to take their minds off the dreary weather.

The Vinalba was OK but definitely not outstanding.But then it was quite cheap in Morrisons.

Tuesday and for a change it wasn't raining.We decided to take the apartment owner's ad vice and go on a scenic drive.Part at least was what I wanted to do.That was to go to Martin's Haven which is the jump off point for boat tours to Skomer Island which is the breeding ground for many sea birds particularly puffins.Though by August the puffins have all gone.The "lodge"where you buy tickets for the boat though also has cameras set up in some shearwater nests.Sadly those were already empty.
It is amazing how little research some people do.A german family turned up for the boat trip thinking they would see the puffins.Fortunately for them the ticket sellers were honest.However their young son had turned up with a surf board under his arm.What was he thinking?
The one problem is that Martin's haven is at the end of a quite narrow road with a parking lot at the end run by the National Trust.Parking is their forte.A rough field and it is 3 GPB for up to 3 hours and 6 GBP over 3 hours-most boat tours are 4 hours.But it is a lovely spot and plenty of walks with great views if you have the time.The place to get on your boat.

The boat is loading so time for us to go on our coastal drive.
.
The problem is the coastal road is very narrow.It is not a relaxing drive.As well views usually hidden by high hedges as well they hide oncoming cars.Very few places to stop and take a few pictures.

Plenty of bays that are picturesque but pretty poor quality beaches.Although it was not raining today the wind was blowing and the max temperature was 17C.So these shots are of beaches in summer and school holidays.
