Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Any thoughts on how Emirates will play once the ACCC approves the deal and Classic Emirates awards are added to the mix??

There will be no impact. This is a OneWorld product and Emirates are not part of oneworld. Shame as it would have made the OneWorld award tix very interesting!

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Well - it is called a oneworld award but it IS a Qantas FF product, there is no standard set of rules within the oneworld program.
The question is given the importance of the Emirates deal for Qantas from Australia, whether Qantas is able to offer a oneworld+Emirates ticket for example.

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

I've never booked one of these Oneworld award fares before, but I need to do a trip in the second half of April from Perth to New York (stop for a week), then Indianapolis (stop for a week) and then back to Perth. Any suggestions for the best itinerary to do this trip using an OW award fare?

Can American Eagle flights be used with these award fares?

Any help would be much appreciated!

AeAgle are certainly a oneworld carrier under the Auspices of AA/AAdvantage.

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Hmm anyone see something I'm missing here. I'm trying to book:

SYD-JNBx-HKGx-DXB-AMM-CAI-AMM-JFK-LAX-SYD and it's not coming up as a OneWorld award at any point. I think the millage might be a bit much (I'm tweaking still), but surely once I get to the CAI stage it should change from Partner to OneWorld award? It just keeps adding up as a Partner and comes to about 480,000 in J.

Any ideas?

Cheers Serfty.

I need to bring back a shed load of baggage from Indianapolis which might complicate things. Can I get my full QF WP allowance of 96kg (3x32kg) on one of these OneWorld fares? Unless OneWorld have some other economy class award fares other than the 140,000 point one then I'm going to probably use Malaysian on either the Perth - New York or from LAX to PER parts of the trip in order to get the two non-QF airlines needed.

What Oneworld airline are you flying HKG to DXB on? Remember emirates is not Oneworld.

Cathay Pacific. It seems to be working now for some reason.... might have just been having a moment as that system tends to do. Interestingly, it won't do it for anything via Jeddah. Could be an embargo or something on the ticket.

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

It should change as soon as you include travel on a second oneworld carrier other than Qantas.

The award booking engine does have "its moments" however.

If the One World multi city fare converts to 140,000 points when using a number of partner airlines, what are the equivalent points if all or most legs are booked in J? Sure this has been answered earlier, so sorry to raise again.

If you have any business class segments then you need 280K points and 420K points for first class - hence the thread title to remind us all.

Yes, but I was questioning that because it seems such incredibly good value. Bill

Out of curiosity what kind of taxes/fees would be applied to a 140K RTW redemption?

It would obviously depend on the countries visited but does anyone have any examples to get an idea?

It also depends which airlines you use on a route. Suggest you attempt a dummy booking and see how much it asks you for.
From memory I did a 140k trip in 2011 or 2012 and it cost ~$1200.

Hmm. Sounds alright. Just from memory I don't believe I can see the fees and taxes without the required number of points in my account - the bulk of my points are sitting in my Citibusiness Gold account but can be transferred across at 1:1 if required.

Plus. I've no idea where/when I want to travel at the moment but a RTW seems like a nice value-for-money way to make use of QFF points :)
