Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

That's reassuring, I got the eTicket Itinerary (yesterday) but still can't locate a PNR. I was thinking it hasn't been ticketed yet. Given the history of my booking may be best to leave it and see what happens (over the weekend). I see BA is still charging for J seat selection.

The QF PNR (six digits) should be located on the top RHS of page 1 of the e-ticket.

Generally the part of the itinerary unaffected by the Covid restrictions or cancellations would remain intact, but it depends on whether the particular circumstances made it impossible for you to bypass the restricted areas and connect to the rest of your itinerary.
Don't expect airlines to come to your rescue in the event of Covid interruptions - you need travel insurance cover just in case
Got it, so would the new bypass/reconnection distance be added into the existing mileage total? And does changing it this way mean that the 5000 miles per person fee applies?

Change fees are currently waived. As suggested, above, travel insurance is advisable.

If your booking is ticketed in the first place, it must have complied with the 35,000 miles maximum allowed. Nothing which happens to the total miles travelled subsequent to that can jeopardise your booking, so it wouldn't matter if your trip ended up being 39,000 miles. The key point is that if Covid restrictions cause the mileage to be exceeded it is beyond your control so you wouldn't be penalised for that.

Hi guys. Anyone booked a Oneworld trip such as a trip to Europe and back with some stop overs on points, leg by leg as award availability came up, then retrospectively tried to get it changed to a rtw flight as it uses less points?

Welcome to another Jez!

Apologies if I misinterpret your query.

To qualify as a OWA in addition to other rules all the flights have to be booked on the one PNR, the booking reference which is a combo of 6 letters & numbers.

You book the first flights online or over the phone & then as other flights become available you will have to phone up & get them added to your original PNR. You cannot make separate bookings (different PNRs) & combine them at a later date.

Below is a link to an AFF article about the OWA which gives some great info & this thread has a lot of useful info & alerts to some of the hurdles being encountered eg flight changes, ticketing delays etc

If by rtw you mean a OneWorld Classic Award, then as you build your itinerary (on a single PNR) flight by flight over time, once it qualifies as a OWCA you don’t have to do anything- it just caps out the points automatically (to 318k in Business for example).

How do you build your itinerary and keep it on the same PNR without booking all the flights at the same time?

Edit I just read above, you can make the first booking online or over phone and then you need to call up to add others later.

The Call Centre is the only way of adding/changing/deleting each flight of a booking. New flights will stay on the same PNR.

If you notice availability, then phone to book the new flights. Flights may be booked in any order, at any time, as long as there is availability.

The initial flight(s) can be booked on-line (or through the Call Centre) and the e-ticket will show the PNR. After that, it’s all done via the Call Centre.

Thought it might be generated when ticketing (as in an Amadeus locator number) as partner airlines aren't recognising my Booking Reference yet.

Qantas doesnt show you the ref number for partner airlines that dont recognise its PNR. However if you look your PNR up on the British Airways site it will give you the partner booking numbers for airlines like AA that dont use amadeus. Youcan then use that number on the partner websites to do seat selection etc.

Update: After 2 emails to Stephanie I got a call late last night from the complaints area. She appologised many times. She asked what I wanted. I told her as QF cancelled my SFO-SYD flight I wanted a SFO-LAX flight and told her an AS flight in 1st is showing availabilty the day after my flight from LAX is booked. She has booked me on that flight and I am waiting on a request to change the date of the QF flight (not sure why that couldn't be done on the spot, maybe that area was closed). She said that she is in charge of the case and will call me to keep me informed and that I won't have to contact the call centre again. Interestingly, the call dropped out twice and she called back both times. Here's hoping it all works out.
Update on QF cancelling my SFO-SYD flight in Sep. Took 3 weeks and an email to AJ to resolve. After 2 weeks and getting told too many lies and incorrect info I email Stephanie Tully twice and was allocated a complaints officer in Fiji. She was very nice and did get me booked on a rewards AS SFO-LAX flight in F it was the day after my LAX to Oz flight. A CC operator had already put in a request to move that flight to the next day. The complaints officer said I won't have to call she will call me every day until QF decide on date change. Well of course she doesn't ring on Monday, so on Tuesday I call got Fiji and them to get her to call me. She does with lots of appologies and promises to call me throughout the day to keep me informed. I tell her she promised to call and I need her to call back because so many of them promise to call and never do. Of course no calls more calls on Tuesday. I call Wednesday and ask them to get complaint officer to call me, they say she's not in today. I ask operator to check my requested date change. Oh that's confirmed she said and she will send it for ticketing. Still showing as Request online and Check My Trip I say. Oh it's confimed she says again. Email the Amadeus itinerary. It comes Shows wait listed I say. Oh I made a mistake she says its still requested. Where is my confirmed flight from LAX? You've deleted it I said. She denies it, says I'll need to wait for requested flight. But I need a confirmed flight I say. She ends call. I keep calling all day. One says I've put in a request for you. Was it a form or email I ask? Oh I spoke to my floor supervisor. Another says it's showing confirmed and will be ticketed in 24-48 hrs. But it's still showing requested online I say. Sometimes it doesn't update online, she says. Send me the Amadeus email I ask. I can't she says. Put a note on my booking I say. She said she did. I called straight back. Still showing as requested and no note. She just lied to get rid of me. Exasperated I emailed AJ and CCd Stephanie around 4pm asking for it to be resovled today. I had the names, call centre and notes of the over 20 operators I had spoken too over 3 weeks detailng all the lies, promises to call back, wrong info etc. I couldn't believe it about 4:55 I get a call from Qantas Assurance Team. The guy made all the changes and ticketed it in 5 mins flat. I didn't believe that was even possible. They must have the power to approve everything. He did say he was calling in response to my email but not if it came from AJ or Stephanie's office. He gave me the QAT phone number which I will use in an emergency. It could've saved so much of my time and stress and all the time I took up of CC operators time if they'd just given me a way to contact a competent operator when they cancelled my flight.

Good job! But it's sad that this is what flying with QF has come down to.

In what world could Tully's office possibly believe that assigning a "complaints officer" in Fiji would lead to anything but further anguish?

We know that AS F charges as a first class fare rather than business class. Maybe simpler to cut losses and go for economy which is fully compliant?

The end leg of my upcoming OWA was LAX>SYD>MEL all on QF (premium economy).

Just got an email saying QF have cancelled the SYD>MEL flight. So they are proposing to put me on a LAX>MEL direct flight instead (still premium economy). Around the date of travel there is zero business or premium economy availability so they have opened up the seats on the LAX>MEL flight to be able to make this change. Now, the rest of my flights on the OWA are in business; do you think if i push Qantas that they may open up two business seats on either of the LAX>SYD or LAX>MEL flights for me, given them changing things up? Not asking for a free upgrade (although it wouldn't cost anything more as within the OWA).

Also, the LAX>SYD is on an A380. The LAX>MEL is 787-9. Is that much of a downgrade from the A380?

Until this change of final flight is made, are my other flights (mainly with partner airlines) at risk of dropping off? If I accept the proposed change QF final flight does the whole itinery get reticketed and I will have to keep on them non stop until it is ticketed, or are the other flights safe/locked in still?

You can ask but I don't see how Y+ seats on a cancelled SYD-MEL flight is going to persuade them to open two J seats on a long-haul route.

Yes probably a very long shot, but trying to find any leverage I can.

The LAX>SYD was Y+ but the SYD>MEL was J. So maybe another angle I can approach saying a portion of the trip was in J, albeit a small portion. Plane downgrade as well. On hold now.

Can anyone comment on my query about the chances of the other flights in the OWA dropping off?
