re: Qantas "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Discussion

Now all we need is for qantas.com to load CX and JL availabilities in their booking engine!!!!

re: Qantas "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Discussion

is there a limit as to how many stopovers we can make using a QFF "oneworld" award? The page doesn't mention any limits to the number of stopovers you can do.

3 class, then Business
2 class, then Coach
That is the case for a Qantas OneWorld Award in business class. But if using AAdvantage miles for an AA OneWorld Award in business class, AA 2-class domestic flights will find you booked in First Class.

Is there a dedicated link on qantas.com to book OneWorld redemptions? I thought there was but could not find anything.

The link in post 2 takes me to the QF homepage. Confused

go to Qantas home page.

Log into your Qantas frequent flyer account, by adding your last name; Frequent Flyer number and your password.

This then brings up this page.

Then you selected multicity which brings up this page, where you can add the following cities I have selected.

As everyone can tell I can't really go any further as I don't have 140,000 points to find your flights.

CX flights have started appearing again on the QF website.

You will find it buried in the Qantas and Partner Classic Award terms and conditions. On the QF Oneworld award Zone 10 you are allowed to travel up to 35,000 miles, 16 sectors and maximum 5 stopovers. Note only one stopover is permitted in any one city in the itinerary and only two transfers may be taken at any one city in the itinerary.

re: Qantas "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Discussion

It's a very good use of points compared to the others. Recently booked Melbourne-NYC-Bracelona-Rio (land segment) Lima-LA-Christchurch-Melbourne all for the cost of 140k points.

Can be worth ringing up however and paying the 2.5k or $50 fee, even if CX now show up QF staff can see options or suggest options you might not have thought of.

However if using the booking engine don't forget that for some routings if no direct flights you can pick the segments separately for example instead of MEL-NYC put in MEL-LAX-NYC still can give you more option and even a free <24 hr stop in LA. FOr example my LA to Christchurch would come up in the booking engine but I could book LA-Auckland-Christchurch.

re: Qantas "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Discussion

Yes one of the best value QF awards.

We did this in '06 (in J when J was only 240K) MEL-SYD-FRA(s)/ORY-BCN-RIO(s)-SCL(s)-EZE(s)-LIM-CUZ(s)-LIM-LAX-MEL. Excellent value. Main restriction is 5 stopovers ... but we managed a 6th (sort of) stop in Barcelona, by have 23 1/2 hrs between arrival and departure...

How much is the J award now?

How do you go MEL-NYC across to Europe, back to sth america, up to nth america (again) and back to aus.

Coyote25, can you list all the city pairs along the way please? To me, you've entered Nth America twice and I didnt think this was possible on a RTW?

I think it is possible to go through North America twice, just like it is possible to go through Asia twice, as long as one them is purely a transit.

re: Qantas "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Discussion

Havent there also then been multiple crosses of atlantic and/or pacific? Again, wasnt aware you could do this.

ie. MEL-NYC Either cross pacific, ormore likely, via EU thus cross atlantic

NYC-BCN Cross atlantic

BCN-Rio Cross atlantic

LA-CHC Cross pacific

There are no rules in the OneWorld Award about crossing oceans. Its not an ATW award, its an award of up to 35,000 miles with a max of 5 stopovers and 16 segments, and must include two non-QF OneWorld airlines.

re: Qantas "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Discussion

The award fare is not specifically a round the world fare, like the commercial fares, so it doesn't have zonal or directional restrictions.

It would be possible, for example to do the following:
CBR-SYD-SIN(s)-MEL(s)-SIN-BKK(s)-SYD(s)-HKG(s)-BNE-CBR if you wanted three returns to Asia from east coast over twelve months, as long as you got BA & CX onto the itinerary in this example.
