Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I haven’t been able to access all the info I heard from the agents yet.

The Anchorage lady linked me to this site in relation to my first class ticket.Pax only allowed

Entry to the Alaska Lounge when traveling on a paid First Class or a First Class award ticket* on flights operated by Alaska Airlines where one flight has a distance of at least 2,000 miles on the day of travel.

Re the OW Emerald status, “lounge access only is allowed if the passenger is embarking on a domestic flight connecting with a longer OW flight internationally or to the lower 48 states , Canada” .

I have emailed Alaska Airlines and will copy you the response.

She should have scrolled down the page: 'If you've earned Emerald or Sapphire through an airline other than American or Alaska, you are not required to have an international itinerary. However, all guests must include their eligible frequent flyer number on their reservation prior to check-in to access the lounge. oneworld® frequent flyer membership cards do not grant access to the lounge and the frequent flyer number on the reservation will determine whether a member is eligible for access.'

What she is citing to you is the access policy for class of travel (ie first class), not for elite status.

I just called Qantas to add flights to our itinerary. I have been waiting for CX flights to become available and I just noticed there were business class seats so rang Qantas only to be told there aren't any. He said they make some available to new bookings and not to add to existing bookings. Does this seem correct?

Yes have experienced this before myself. Very frustrating.

Thought getting out of Australia was the hard part. Getting home is proving almost impossible. I have 11 months to work it out though so back to hunting I guess.

Excuse my ignorance but what is HUSCA?
Try Jakarta, seoul or maybe even Tokyo (off months)

Hang up and call again and hope you get someone else - always ask who you are speaking to and record the name so you can hang up if it is the same person

Tried the callback but no luck. She tried to add it to my itinerary but it wouldn't come up with a price so couldn't be added. She wanted me to book it as a new flight and then she could link it to the existing itinerary. Betting that would negate the 318000 points I am aiming for. Might have to book everything else including the Australian connection to Rockhampton and then book that separately.

🤷‍♂️. HUACA, rinse and repeat, HUACA, rinse and ………
Got the feeling it just isn't possible. She actually added it but it wouldn't come up with the updated cost. Others have had the same problem so I am guessing the do it to encourage new bookings. I have 11 months so I will just keep trying to find a way home as other flights come available.

Depending on the freshness of the seat release I’d suggest trying again tomorrow. When some partner seats are just released they can take some time to fully be available in the QF system and I’ve had success calling again the next day.

Hi. Can anyone clarify the rules for me. I understand that the 318k flights had to be taken with 1 year. Is that year from the first flight, which was my understanding, or 1 year from the first booking date? I am sure that wasn't the case when I booked a few years ago.

I have since called back and a second agent said the 1w months starts at the booking date. She said they charged the rule. Makes it very hard to get good flights over a weeks period given the flight opportunities with the likes of CX.

I have been told that before too, I would keep calling back (sometimes it takes many calls). It's not uncommon to be told you can't add a flight to a booking yet you can. Travel must commence 12 months from issue date there is no mention that it must end 12 months from issue date, it must end 12 months from 1st flight. I doubt there has been a rule change but I haven't changed a booking for a number of months so I can't confirm. Some people on here have mentioned adding flights recently may be someone can confirm.

I did ring QF to see if it was true about not being able to add a flight dated 12 months from the initial ticketing date as I do have an existing booking. 1st operator said that it wasn't possible 12 months after the booking date. I stated that I had done so previously as my booking shows and asked multiple times when it changed. She never answered that just repeated it wasn't possible.
2nd call I was told it wasn't possible to add a flight.
3rd call said I could add a flight to my booking as long as there is availability.
3 different answers from 3 calls.
It pays to HUACA, HUACA and HUACA again.

Last time I booked this, way back in 2019,it was stressful but easier. I have now found someone that can add flights past our booking date. Next problem is when she tried to add the flights, they wouldn't add because we had 2 transits and 1 stopover in Helsinki. Seems it is 2 trips to a city only regards if stopover or transit and that was the machine not the agent. Found different flights to avoid Helsinki and called back. Now the bloody booking machine booked the flights but wanted 318k for the new added flights and wouldn't credit the 280k points already spent on the first half of the trip. I have been told to cancel the trip and rebook from the start using the website regardless of me telling them it isn't possible because the website won't allow more than 6 flights. Any ideas?

Are you sure that the itinerary hasn’t just updated and maxed out at 318K? If a new booking, and cancelling the old one, then re-credit is not necessarily immediate. Maybe I’m not reading your post correctly.

Sorry, I can't help you, but omg, this is so frustrating for you!! I think this will happen to me next year when I try to add to my trip, currently spent 288K points
