Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

We have a OWA in Sept originating in Mel and terminating in Sin - on our way back from Europe we have a few days in Cmb.
Next July 2024 we want to go back to Cmb, hopefully using the same PNR And therefore part of the same OWA.
Our miles etc are ok but I don’t think we can have 2 stopovers - is this correct?
Or alternatively can we make our own way to Cmb and book Cmb to Mel on the same PNR?

If your OWA starts in Australia, you cannot leave Australia a second time. You also cannot have a second stopover in CMB. But you are right that you could use the OWA to fly home from CMB provided you book the flight before you commence your travel on your OWA.

So if we make our own way to CMB ( another PNR or paid ticket ) we can use the previous SIN as a stopover or open-jaw to CMB and then continue with the original OWA to get from CMB to MEL?

Yes, I believe so. SIN to CMB would have to be open jaw since you will already have used it for a stopover. Then you can travel directly out indirectly to MEL resuming your original OWA. Unless anyone wiser can spot a problem.

Likely a through-fare issue. Have you got room in your OWA for a night or 2 in DOH?
Thank you djkelly69, yes that is one good option.

Would you or anyone have any routing suggestions with J availability, departing London on 5 July 2023 to Hong Kong with any possible connection...?

It’s drawn out but there are 2x J

14:15 5/7 BA 119 LHR - BLR with a 21 hr stopover connecting to

01:40 7/7 CX 624 BLR - HKG arrives 10.10 7/7

Heard a new one from an agent today...

We can't downgrade you from Business to Economy. Trying to push out a simple QF flight to later in the day and there is only Economy available. BNE-SYD so I am fine to go Economy. Serenity Now.

I've heard that before as well. Probably 12 months ago was told they can't mix business and economy

A new one for me. I tried to add 3 flights to a booking, was told it couldn't be over 13 segments, okay I'll add 2 of them and cap out.
Answer came back that to add flights there needs to be an additional 2 seats on all the other flights to complete a new booking and "exchange" over the booking to a new one, and because there are no reward seats left on my 11 other flights it can't be priced and therefore no other flights can be added.
Not worth arguing as the guy was quite nice and seemed to try his best, but this seems a bit ridiculous.

Useless is a bit harsh. Poorly trained might be more apt.

Still waiting for points to be deducted, new e ticket issued. Wil have to call yet again tomorrow, this is getting tiresome.

If you have a ticket you don’t need to call again. The points will be taken eventually.
Unfortunately i do not have a valid ticket for whole trip. I had one, but then removed a flight and replaced with 2 other flights and they have not been ticketed. So now whole itinerary is at risk. So stressful.

Sorry, I misunderstood your post and thought you meant that your new e ticket has been issued. If it hasn’t then yes, you need to keep phoning. Have they taken your money? Hopefully they have, otherwise they won’t issue a ticket. They also have to have calculated the points, but sometimes they seem to be taken days or weeks after the ticket is issued.

I’ve been charged the 5,000 points fee per person to add flights to my OWA booking. Is this correct as there is no other way to do this than on the phone?

Yes, you’d be charged this even if you could do it online. What you shouldn’t be charged is the 7700 points “International Reward Assistance Fee”.
