Is that Amadeus for res and Altea for checkin (the latter being an Amadeus product)?

UL uses both Amadeus reservations and Altea departure control.

Here's what everyone uses in oneworld:

Amadeus reservations/Altea departure control - QF, CX/KA, BA, QR, UL, AY, RJ, JJ
Sabre reservations/departure control - AA, LA
SITA reservations/departure control - MH
Amadeus reservations/SITA departure control - IB
Amadeus reservations/unsure about departure control - AB

Unsure about S7 (Sabre?), JL (Axess?).

Interesting to note MH have recently signed up with Amadeus and Altea, will make MH a lot easier to deal with hopefully from a booking perspective.

It's always better to pre-allocate seats where possible which a lot of ppl on AFF would do anyway but it's surprising the amount of people who don't bother to do it despite a lot of airlines not charging for the privilege.

I have multiple WPs at work who don't do seat selection and then moan about the fact that I am in row 4 and they are in 27B

Yes, MH moving to Amadeus/Altea will make life a lot easier. There are often a lot of little quirks when dealing with PNRs that contain MH flights, eg. seat selections not sticking etc.

Just been advised that QF will only check through Classic awards bags to a different PNR on China Eastern and Emirates.

I can confirm that there have been NO revisions or updates to the document posted earlier in this thread, which outlines to CSAs where exceptions must be made. Unfortunately, it would seem you have come across a CSA who does not understand QF policy.

I will be testing this tomorrow night (QF MEL-LHR rev X/ BA LHR-DUS as QF award) and will report back.

Out of interest in which port were you checking in and at which counter?

I guess at the end of the day our only defence is to show the document posted higher up in this thread.

EDIT: I just received a call from a First Host for travel tomorrow. I mentioned on the phone that I am connecting through to a BA flight on a separate PNR, but that the booking is a QF award - no pushback at all, except to mention "I can definitely add that for you as it is an award booking, if it were a normal booking we might not have been able to."

A perfect example of a CSA who knows her stuff!

"might not"? Does that also imply that they "might" be able to?

I think that CSA is a tad confused. QF can continue to through check to EK on separate tickets irrespective of type of ticket eg paid ticket to award or vv, award ticket to award, or paid ticket to paid. Nothing has changed there.

China Eastern (MU) are in the Sky Team Alliance so would not have been eligible for through check prior to 01 Sep as only One World airlines were able to be tthrough checked on separate tickets.

I think what may happen in the MU example if that sometimes several flights may be booked through MU on the same ticket where the first sector is a QF domestic flight eg BNE/MEL but marketed as MU ie a codeshare. Sometimes MU oncarriage flights don't appear (or drop-off) after the BNE/MEL flight so need to be added in manually for baggage to be through checked to the final destination.

It's not possible to book an MU codeshare sector within Australia without being on the same pnr and ticket as an MU operated flight eg MEL/PVG so if a CSA was to see such a flight and no international oncarriage they would know that there are other sectors to follow and that would be confirmed if they look at the eticket as all flights would be visible.

So the above example is not so much an exception to the rule but a workaround to be facilitate a pax being able to through check bags to their final destination because all flights are on the same ticket.

Sydney domestic (SYD-MEL-LAX)
Showed CSA printout of doc upthread to no avail.
She said there was a change 1 month ago since that doc came out and exclusion to through check now includes classic award except China eastern and EK.

It's impossible to argue the point and get to a suitable outcome when all the other CSA gang up against you

Yep a checkin fail. Maybe Red Roo can kindly
s/he can feedback to the CSA about this.

I called Qantas last month prior to a trip to Malaysia and the CSA confirmed with me that interline would work for me from Qantas domestic to Malaysian airlines.

Imagine my surprise when I booked in at Brisbane domestic and was informed that the CSA I spoke with was not aware of the new rules i.e. No interchange unless it is a Qantas international flight that I was transferring to.

So no use arguing, just had to treat the day as if I was traveling with Jetstar.

I forgot to add, that I was informed that it is another enhancement by Qantas to generate more revenue.

I was informed that reason was because many interline bags went missing.
I told them "Wow did not know that QF/AA baggage handling was that bad..."

were these two Revenue bookings or reward and revenue?

QF award to AA revenue

that should have been ok according to QF policy, annoying if the staff don't know the rules and instead of checking just refuse to through check you
