Re: TT (Tiger Airways) grounded

TT do serve a purpose in the industry, personally TT don't fit my Domestic requirments but they are suitable for others, so hopefully the faults can be rectified as to keep the price pressure on JQ.

What role has Singapore Airlines played in the sub-optiminal management of the airline, one muses?

None at all is my guess, and I think they have now been cut loose like a rabid dog.

Re: TT (Tiger Airways) grounded

literally getting in the car for a jetstar flight, the airport should be fun today....imagine all the school holiday travellers...
Yes enjoy that!! Should provide some interesting scenes with those bogans not accepting their safety is of some importance.

Management and Leadership has failed - they must accept responsibility.
They had a huge heads up a while ago, and now they let down everyone.

Now, do Tiger (overseas) regularly make the same blunders - and it it picked up over there?
With computers and glide path landing, its not what I expect to see - unless the pilots want to pile
on some unassisted landing experience.

This is surely the beginning of the end of Tiger in Australia and if it is I think we need to remember that means innocent Australians
like cabin crew and cleaners etc will lose their jobs and that's a sad thing, obviously safety is paramount and people need to be held
accountable but the closure of any business impacts many people and if Tiger goes down then people will suffer-and that's a shame.
I'm not for one minute defending poor management-just reminding people that it's not just passengers who suffer in this situation.
Cheers

Should be interesting few days from Monday with the QF industrial action and now a carrier offline, welcome to school holidays!

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

Well it looks like another LCC has been busted twice for the same thing:FOR the second time in a month, the federal aviation watchdog is investigating why a Tiger Airways jet flew below the minimum safe altitude. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it was looking into the descent of a Tiger Airways Airbus A320 into Avalon Airport, southwest of Melbourne, about 11am (AEST) yesterday. The flight from Sydney was reported to have flown under the minimum altitude on approach. On the evening of June 7, air traffic control reported another Tiger Airways A320 cleared to descend to 2500 feet (762m) near Melbourne Airport but it continued to a reported 2000 feet. The lowest safe altitude for that leg of the approach was 2500 feet, the bureau said.
Markis10, your headline says TT are grounded, was that the case at the time you posted this? As I heard the decision came later in the night?

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

As I was checking into a JQ flight last night at SYD, approx 930pm, Tiger were announcing the cancellation of flights - connected? Maybe...

More likely very few people here fly TT so have a lower care level.

It is good to see CASA taking action over safety issues.

Grounding are typically over systemic issues.

But you've got to give it to CASA for timing - school holidays in this case, Easter in one of Ansett's cases.

I'm really happy that unsafe aircraft and personnel are now not buzzing around the sky today regardless of the fact I wouldn't touch Tiger with a 10 foot pole - for the very reasons they are grounded ironically.

Tiger has been banned from our corporate travel roster for about 6 months now which I'm also happy about.

CASA doesn't make these decisions lightly and whilst I feel for the people inconvenienced (Good on QF group for the assistance being provided) they should be happy they aren't flying with an unsafe airline... I know in time most will come to that conclusion.

Roger that! I didn't see it on the news last night and it is the biggest aviation story since the hairline fractures in the Ansett 767 Fleet, precipitating the grounding of that great airline.
