I hope that scale model is glued/screwed down.... Not my intentions, though I can see it going 'missing"....
We will know if you come in on staurday with a large bag for AFF event that something may go amiss lol:p

Thanks for the pics team.......did we beat ABT to the upload (again)??

The only thing you missed getting a photo of was the aerobridges directly off the lounge.......I've looked and looked and still can't see them

Excellent idea. The punters will then have to board by schlepping across the macadam and via the rear stairs.

Looks positively brilliant!! I'd love to have come up, but I'm having a crazy busy day at work.

Good job Virgin Australia for pulling off what looks like a brilliant lounge.... Looking forward to seeing it in two weeks!

To the Virgin Australia team, I offer my most sincere congratulations as well. The lounge looks as polished as MEL and BNE (floor hopefully better than BNE) and places you well for the looming GC Commonwealth games.

I have been critical of DJs "pricing structure" of late, but it is very comforting that the Gold Coast has been treated somewhat better by Virgin than it has by Qantas. In reality, I have few (if any) complaints about DJ except the escalating fares.

Keep up the "customer focus" and I'm sure you're on track to eclipse your goals.

I went down last night and took advantage of the anytime access to check it out and have a couple of drinks with a mate (non-alcoholic for me).

Loved the lounge, they've done a brilliant job in my view in utilizing the available space.

It's lucky I don't drink, with the combination of a gold coast lounge, anytime access and an abundance of cheap or free parking at/close to the airport, if I was a drinker it'd be my new favorite hangout :)

Goodbye anytime access

Excuse the typos, this was sent from my iPhone using Fat fingers

Woohoo. It actually happened. I just flew in from NZ (to Bris). Great news. Will be a couple of weeks before I get a look, but given this is my primary depature point I'm very happy.

Well done Virgin !

Peoples,

Is there any official word on dedicated security screening?

I'm trying to work out an ATA plan whereby I can make a worth-while visit to the lounge while passing through keeping my parking duration to 10mins (which is free).

I think this is possible, but hinges on a quick run through security. This seems to be the only bottle neck, the parking is about 20meters away from the terminal, the terminal is tiny, with a quick run through security, I think I could be out of the car an into the lounge in something like 4 minutes, quick 5 mins in the lounge, then validate the parking ticket in the terminal (which, as far as I understand, will stop the clock and then allow another few minutes for me to return to the car and drive out).

It's all over the matter of $5 anyway because 10mins to 30mins is $5, so it's not a big deal, but it is just an exciting idea. I'll keep everyone posted of my ATA exploits anyway... and perhaps inadvertently bring an end to the whole thing.

I got a good laugh when I read this.

Is this for Saturday when you're meeting up with everyone in the Lounge?

In 10 minutes, CAR-LOUNGE-CAR may get you as much as 2+ minutes in the Lounge (less the time it takes to go up/down in the lift/steps).

Or you could throw caution to the wind, and really splurge on this one: Pay $6 for one hour and get 50 minutes in the Lounge, at your leisure. Difficult choice? ;)

Edit: Please let us know how it works out.

Heheh!

I'll certainly be taking a good $6 hour this Saturday to do it all nice and relaxed, the 10 min turnaround idea (or gag, as it may turn out to be) would be a regular Friday evening/Monday morn thing as I live in Bris on the weekends and the OOL car park is (and I've timed it) a 3min10sec detour off the highway. The airport couldn't be more handy. So if I'm considering up to 2 ATA visits a week, I'd like to work out a 10min plan if possible.

These are my intentions. Now watch me cough it up.

quick 5 mins in the lounge

What a ridiculous concept! Are you going to run up the bar, skull a beer while standing at the bar throw some food into your mouth have a look out the window then run out again?

Why not spend the $6, stay for an hour in the morning and have a proper breakfast?

It would be interesting for those who work near the airport and have ATA - I would happily pay $6 in parking for a free breakfast in the lounge - I think its worth it.

I arrived yesterday for the Opening of the lounge at 10am and left at 1.30pm and only paid $10 to park.

I do work at the airport, have free parking and ATA. Can see a few lunch breaks being spent in the lounge.:D

I think I'll file this post to reference the next time someone complains about QF abandoning all the spendthrift pax at OOL - and reference it again when DJ pulls ATA!
