OOL Lounge

While in the lounge I was having a chat with one of the angels about anytime access. Confirmed that it was coming to an end on Thursday IIRC? I asked her if it was being abused. Her reaction and comments lead me to think that it is not, certainly at OOL, so why bother canning it.

....sent from the place closest to the airport I just arrived at.

When I was in the other day, there were more JQ flights than DJ ones yet the lounge wasn't busy, and while it was just one simply, with ATA still active it led me to believe there wasn't much abuse. But whatever.

Might get down on Saturday to see kpc again if I can.

I'm in the OOL lounge again Sat 18th August from 1130 to 1400, although I might try and "Fly Ahead", leaving OOL earlier if I don't have any company in the lounge:p...again can guest 3.
Got fly ahead 20 mins before departure due to late arrival and 1 minute before flight closed. Spent 10 mins in lounge and had a nice chicken sweet corn soup before my flight back to Syd.

Can't wait for DJ to open a lounge at OOL.

For the 5 yrs I've been living on the GC I've mostly made the arduous trip to BNE to fly QF, but lately i've got sick of that and just flying JQ out of OOL.

If DJ open a lounge and give priority checkin to lounge members, they'll win my business without even trying.

As others have suggested, not sure where they'll locate it though, haven't seen much in the way of free space in the quality time i've spent in the food court which is the new OOL terminal (don't get me started on that one!)

There's a little wine bar airside - well, it sells wine - and I have used it several times as my make-pretend lounge while flying DJ.

Of course, a lounge has indeed opened at the Southern end of the terminal - as per later posts in this very thread.

Spent over an hour in lounge today, adjacent to gate 1. There was one family - 2A, 2C - and about 5 individuals. Lounge had 2 staff behind bar, a cleaner, 3 staff at desk upstairs and one at ground floor entrance.
Food and beverage selection was extensive - one soup, sandwich station, cold items, etc. coffees were prepared to order and delivered to guests. Beers included Crown Lager and Peroni. Extensive range of wines.
Business centre with four or five PCs and printer.
Restroom, shower area is clean and very well maintained.
View over Tarmac and the mountain range beyond.
Boarding calls are made when most pax have cleared gate area.

Is it me or do Virgin not seem to be using the lower number gates anymore? Last two trips I've arrived/departed from Gate 6.

This has resulted in my requiring to undertake a walk of AT LEAST 100m, not to mention weaving through the bogans. Not to mention no sign of a escort service, not even a hunky male to give a simple "Piggy Back"

Poor form Virgin, poor form.

My last 6 flts have been ex-BNE but the ones previous to that from OOL were all lower gate numbers. I hope this isn't a standard change, I was quite use to watching the line deminish from the lounge before strolling down at the last minute!

Saturday, most VA flights were using 3, 4 & 5 while I was there.

That does seem to be the trend lately.

Gate 6 is the worst!!

Was in that holding pen for about 5 minutes yesterday waiting to board!

After the foot massage.. My desired mode of transit from the lounge to the gate would be an entourage of bikini girls personally ushering me to the apron with a parasol & on board complemented by preparing a lovely Mojito whilst I settle back in 1A.
How very GC..

Oh.. How I love Platinum Air

Can I also add I had a major incident in the lounge today. The moisturiser in the lounge caused my hands to be slippery, rendering me unable to open the mentos packet upon leaving the lounge.

I suggest either a "WARNING" sign next to the lovely Grown moisturiser, or a full time employee standing next to the mentos bowl to open mints for passengers, preventing further catastrophes.

That's it, I'm going back to Qantas!

I think you forgot the FAIL. ;)
