OOL Lounge

Will get my first opportunity to sample the OOL lounge on Monday afternoon. Looking forward to it.

I will be in the lounge this Tues from 530-700pm if anyone around. Can guest 3.

In the OOL lounge now (Sunday arvo). It's great, feels a bit regional but there's nothing wrong with that, it's very nice and very new.
There are about 10 guests and at least 7 staff. They are doing table service for coffee.
Lots of seating which might suggest plans to up services out of OOL.

Check in was interesting, the purple Priority line was packed and is for the following:
- Business
- Velocity Platinum
- Velocity Gold
- Velocity Silver
- Flexi fares

When I got to the front (as Plat flying J) I asked as nicely as possible if the queue was for everyone except for Saver fares without Velocity membership. She was a bit embarrassed, and said they're changing it soon as the priority line is usually as busy, if not moreso, than the regular queue.

Anyway, with VA's offering on this route, you couldn't pay me to fly JQ.

I wouldn't get too cosy. Some mornings you have to look hard to find a seat and if one of the footy teams are there it's standing room only

Thanks for asking and reporting re priority check in. It does seem to be a little self-defeating if the priority line is frequently longer than the regular line.

So who gets enhanced, I wonder?

Flexis? Even less difference then to saver.
Silver? One of the true perks of silver and without it, then the only bene is a couple of lounge passes and a membership discount.
Gold? Yeah why not. Give priority to the disloyal flyers and stuff the gold hard earned (seems par for the current VA course)?

Every time I hear these comments, I think "great, there goes another cornerstone of the pre "suck up to QF WPs" era.

I think it will just be flexi cut from priority checkin.
I hope, since I have dropped back to silver!
But alas, I can check in at the lounge these days!

Here now. Nice view of the tarmac. Slightly smaller than i expected and i didn't expect the entrance to be where it is but a massive improvement over waiting in the terminal.

EDit: Weird question but is there a disproportionate number of the older LTA equipped planes flown up here?

Disproportionate in which way? I can't recall the last LTA fitted aircraft. I was thinking you southerners must be hogging them all!

EDIT: Actually, this is probably from me getting row 3 more often than not.......I don't look any further aft than that! On Sat., I had one refit and one BSI but in row 3 no LTA regardless.

I didn't think there were any LTA aircraft left. Havn't been on one since last year

...
while small, I though it also felt quite cramped, like there was too much furniture for the space in the lounge area (plenty of space in the business/desk area, especially as it was Sunday night and no people in that space). But yes, much much better than the terminal.

Had a drink and catch up with Samh004 in the DJ OOL lounge this evening...small but nice lounge:)

I'm in the OOL lounge again Sat 18th August from 1130 to 1400, although I might try and "Fly Ahead", leaving OOL earlier if I don't have any company in the lounge:p...again can guest 3.

While in the lounge I was having a chat with one of the angels about anytime access. Confirmed that it was coming to an end on Thursday IIRC? I asked her if it was being abused. Her reaction and comments lead me to think that it is not, certainly at OOL, so why bother canning it.

Two visits in fairly quick succession. Perfectly good little lounge especially considering the constraints of the building. Friendly staff. It sure beats the alternative.

Coming back from Sydney on the weekend it seems the priority queue has been split. Platinum and Gold in their own queue, silver and flexi in a seperate longer priority queue. This is at check-in not at the gate.
