Did anyone else make any last minute purchases today? ;) I got another $600 of wish cards but they were onto me. The guy at D!ck Smith tried to charge my credit card three times saying he couldn't put multiple transactions through at once.(3 X $200) I told him it had been done before and it would be done again. :p

I mentioned why I wanted it done and he said I wasn't the only one that had been doing it. :D
I had no problems getting 4 x 100 Wish cards in the one transaction at Frankston "Delta India Charlie Kilo" Smith yesterday.:D

It feels strange using the wish cards - I am used to using a CC and thinking I'll get (Say) 34 points for this purchase - using the gift card I feel like I'm missing out - until I remember I already have garnered 374 points!

I bought 2 x $500 Wish Cards late on 31st and the sales guy put them through as one single transaction. His comment to me was "gee, someone is going to very pleased". I just nodded :D .

i purchased 2 x $500 wish cards at **** smith on december 31 and will use them for groceries at woolworths. the 10,000 bonus points posted today.
thanks very much for posting this.

I was quite annoyed at DSE in [insert suburb here] on 31 Jan as they could not process Amex - I was all set for another $2,000 of wish cards :(

Man that's gotta hurt!! Although I am kicking myself for not getting one more when i got my iPod!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to the OP and everyone who has contributed here. Without them I wouldn't have spent $4000 at DSE on Gift Cards and claimed the 40,000 bonus points.

Obviously not as much as some have claimed but still a big deal to us small fish in the sea.

Many thanks once again! :D

I'd like to add my thanks too....managed to bank a Bangkok trip worth of points out of the promotion....so very pleased with that :) thanks guys - great site, great contributors :)

and a big thanks to Amex who has the balls to offer such big promotions (hope they offer some more in the very near future) ;)

I think DSE, Sanity et.al, pay something towards the promotions. So really, I doubt Amex actually looses that much out of the deal. The promotion was really geared to push Christmas spending on high end tv's etc to DSE, Tandy etc rather than their (sometimes lower priced) competitors. Same deal with Sanity who are in a big market tussle with the likes of HMV etc.

Mal,

Having said that remember that Retra Vision was also on the list and in our area they are the cheapest with brand names.

Hey everyone,

Happy New Year! Judging by the sound of most of you, it's started off with a very healthy MR balance! :D

When I originally started this thread, I didn't really think I'd be able to take advantage of the offer, but thanks to FrankC and creeno joining the dots, I've discovered that Woolies is a much better place to shop over Coles :D .

I actually stumbled upon the opt-in offer completely by accident, when I was looking up bonus partners on the Amex website the day before the offer started. What I am wondering is, was anyone actually targeted by Amex for this promotion, or was any advertising seen or heard in the media promoting the offer? It just seemed a little on the quiet side, which seems odd.

Can anyone enlighten us?

Congrats mick. I did hear some radio advertising on both the Fox FM and Nova radio networks (B105 and Nova 106.9 Brisbane) and also saw a couple of ads in the newspaper. But they were all after this thread on AFF so I was probably more aware what they meant. I don't think I would have done very well out of this without the thread. Thanks heaps! :D

Thanks for the heads-up for this promotion, it was about a week or so before I then received in my PO Box a promotional card from Amex advising this Offer as well as an email.........

I bought $1000 gift voucher from The Good Guys and 10,000 bonus points posted OK. I then spend it on microwave and other electricals and bargained down as cash purchase. The 22" LCD monitor is out of stock. Good to know that I can get it next year still with the bonus points by using the gift voucher.

Today I made my final Wish Card purchases. All up I have purchased $10,000 worth of Wish Card, so 100K bonus points :)

Thanks to the OP and others, especially on info of pre purchase using Wish Card and The Good Guys gift voucher.

Yes The Good Guys posted fine for me too :)

A nice 100Kish points all up for me......including witha late $3000 of wish Cards. the shop assistant said someone is going to be lucky....and I thought yes, ME!!.

Though LOL Harvey Norman did not cooperate ..I went in to get a good price on a top end vaccum cleaner to then go to the TGG to have them price match.....only to get over 50% off!!!! on the model I wanted as they were clearing that item....so LOLlI just had to buy from them with only 1.5 points but with over 50% off up front!!.

Well a bit of lucky timing for me as I had only just taken out the Maximiser to replace my Qantas Amex (The second free one nearing the end of its free period) and so after only just over a month now have almost 140,000 points:p

So the question is to long time Maximiser users is....do these bonus points deals happen regularly?

If so how often....and are they always this (10 bounus points) generous?

this is the first major promo of this type that I have seen since converting my RACQ Gold Amex Credit card to the Maximiser about 3 years ago. Here's hoping that that this type of promo is seen on a regular basis.

Thanks for that....and yes heres hoping.

Oh, dammit, I was following this thread until about a day before someone made the suggestion about Wish Giftcards - and then for some reason stopped reading it.

I would have ended up buying about $5000-6000 worth of cards (that's about as much as I spend at Woolworths and the Caltex Woolworths petrol stations in a year). Ah, well, chalk this one up to experience, I guess. I'll keep watching for another promotion.

Many thanks to those that mentioned the Wish Cards, my local DSE thought it a bit odd when I bought a couple of thou worth, however they have been quickly used at Dan Murphys and what is left will be used at Woolies.
