One of the service staff commented that the wish cards were a good way of hiding what/where you had actually spent your money...

Thanks to everyone who has posted here about the Amex 10 bonus points offer and the purchase of Wish Cards earning points. Without this thread I wouldn't have thought to try that. I've already purchased $2500 of Wish Cards from **** Smith and we've used some of them at Woolworths so it's working out well.

Has anyone made purchases from **** Smith Powerhouse? **** Smith and Tandy are listed so I assume that Powerhouse will also be okay but the Powerhouse logo is not shown on the Amex website along with the **** Smith and Tandy logos so thought I should check before I buy anything there.

Hi Ken1,
I haven't made any purchases from DS Powerhouse, however to be safe as it's only a week left for this promotion, just purchase Wish Cards from your regular DS store (or Tandy store) and you can make purchases using your Wish Cards at DS Powerhouse (this is what I did with a PS3).

Thanks Alanslegal,

I'll buy from DS just to be sure.

Nice Christmas present in the MR account this morning - 130,000+ points! I am in the once in a lifetime (at least once in my lifetime  ) position of moving house and replacing just about everything. So Sunday it was new fridge/freezer/TV/dvd player/coffee machine/dishwasher etc from the local retrovision. I thought about waiting for the post Christmas sales but I knew what I wanted and got a very good deal anyway. I struck a salesman with a good red pen. :) Points took 36 hours to post. There are a couple of DSE vouchers to come so all up I'll have enough for 2 upper class trips between HKG and SYD on VS which is very good value for me personally. Balance will also come in handy for the QF repositioning flights on the next DONEx. My best deal of the year.

I can't claim to have got the same number of points aas others here, but I just wonder if anyone in the family will notice that the presents this year were a bit more in the way of electronic goods than normal :)

(I did, I think, get a good deal on a TomTom G0720 :) )

To confirm Sanity comes good too..

$60 Sanity gift voucher, cost $60.

Happy 15YO mini serfty on Christmas day - Priceless ...

Oh, the 600 Bonus MR points will be useful as well. :p

Bought a $500 gift card last night, just waiting for the points to come through... Still have to go back and buy a plasma, CB radio and hopefully an iPod before Monday!

well 5,500 points were waiting for me this morning in my amex account... What a pity i didn't need new electrical goods!

What happened to the 'plasma, CB radio and hopefully an iPod before Monday!' :?:

Well the CB is a certainty! iPod I am waiting to hear back from the insurance, (other one is dead thanks to the storms last week). And really i should spend the money on some things around the house!

But i was referring to the other post where someone spent 13k on stuff! That would be nice!

See now this makes more sense - yu didnt need new electrical goods but had to buy them due to storms - I guess there are a few other things in that list - bad luck there :(

Well i got to spend again today - Got Dad his CB radio, andother $500 gift card and also the plasma!

If the insurance gives me the ok tomorrow, I may be able to buy some of the goods that were damaged last week!!

Purchsed A plasma and 4 Gift Cards on sunday Got My 34000 points posted today:mrgreen:

Did anyone else make any last minute purchases today? ;) I got another $600 of wish cards but they were onto me. The guy at D!ck Smith tried to charge my credit card three times saying he couldn't put multiple transactions through at once.(3 X $200) I told him it had been done before and it would be done again. :p

I mentioned why I wanted it done and he said I wasn't the only one that had been doing it. :D

Ok....has anyone bought a Good Guys Gift Voucher...and had the 10 Bounus points post????

Now bare with me...the Gift Voucher is only for their stores...so why buy it and not the item direct???

Well the Good Guys make you pay another 5-10% if you use a CC:mad: ...as their whole selling strategy is that you pay less for cash...so hence they havea large difference between the cash price and if you pay by CC.

But here is the loophole that I have spotted...if you pay witha Gift Card it is treated as cash....and when you buy the Gift Card there is no mark up...$400 on a Gift Card cost you only the $400...but you can then use the Gift Card as cash in the store.....:D

So question is does the gift card qualify for the 10 bonus points. The Wish card at DSE would suggest yes...but has anyone bought one???

I bought $1000 gift voucher from The Good Guys and 10,000 bonus points posted OK. I then spend it on microwave and other electricals and bargained down as cash purchase. The 22" LCD monitor is out of stock. Good to know that I can get it next year still with the bonus points by using the gift voucher.

Today I made my final Wish Card purchases. All up I have purchased $10,000 worth of Wish Card, so 100K bonus points :)

Thanks to the OP and others, especially on info of pre purchase using Wish Card and The Good Guys gift voucher.

I seriously look forward to this type of promotion. Pity I had no need to rush out and spend a lot at these outlets this time around.
