Optus $99/Mth Sim Only Plan - 60,000 Qf Pts

Just got the Optus points today, the 4th payment was made yesterday but I expected it going in, $400 for 60k points is a good deal.

My points seem to have landed today too. Time to cancel...

Well that's PC sorted for another year.

My points arrived a day after my 4th payment. Time for my teenage daughter to pay for her own phone plan now.

Very generous parent providing your daughter with a mobile account AND paying for her first 4 months of payments!!

My son negotiated a bit tougher - he gets to keep 20,000 points and I get 40,000 for my $396. Still a good deal though

A bit of a late discovery for me, but after my son chose to get a physical SIM and his points posted with the alignment of the signup date plus a few days, but the bill is aligned with your activation date, so with the delay in receiving the sim, he has managed to get points posted before the fourth bill…….. now I love that his phone did not support a physical sim…….. but I love even more that I still manage his FF account 😀

Looks like I got lucky and got the points two weeks after paying my 3rd bill. I bought a competitors $4 sim with plan from the supermarket and immediately ported the number over.

hmm. 4th payment last week but no points yet.
Was there a specific contact at Optus to ask or just general customer (non) service?

Just been through the excruciating process of canceling - every possible step to hang onto me or delay cancellation was tried by the agent. I used the message process and it took over 30 minutes of chat time, with delays while she was obviously dealing with other people as well. I must have said “no, please cancel” “no, please just cancel now”, “no, please cancel immediately”. Her last attempt was to say my next billing date is 5 January and I should contact them on 4 January. As if!!! I deserve 60,000 points just for perseverance. The telephone option may be better.

Personally I'd be inclined to go to Woolworths or Coles and grab the cheapest prepaid SIM starter pack there, transfer the number and throw the SIM. For $5 you can avoid talking to a retention team at all

One of the “offers” to try and keep me was a 3 month suspension at $5.50/month which OPTUS would cover. Not sure what was going to happen after 3 months. But as far as I’m concerned the sooner the relationship terminated the better - so I’m ready to take up their next QANTAS points offer sooner 😀
