Optus $99/Mth Sim Only Plan - 60,000 Qf Pts

Set to be delivered on Sunday which would be unusual. In any event looks like I’ll be off and gone before the 4th payment due on Wednesday.

Sim turned up at lunch time today. 3hrs later and I was back on the Telstra network. Easy.

Now to wait for this deal to be offered again. Surely I’m not the only one who would jump back to Optus for another 60,000 QF points? 😂

Managed to successfully port my number on the payment day last week. Got screenshots of Optus rep confirming I will not be charged but I was charged. Called Optus who said their rep was wrong but they will refund the 4th charge.

My +1 received points today as well, just on the day of 4th payment. Did anyone else successfully canceled on the day without being charged (or charged and refunded)? I’m trying to understand if it’s ok to cancel on payment day or not because Optus keeps giving conflicting information.

How do you all go about cancelling the Optus subscription ?
Can you do it via live chat ? Or you have to call Optus to cancel ?
Thank you.

You can do it via chat!

Took about 10 minutes for me to get connected to an agent. And you’ll prolly get asked why you want to cancel, what alternative plans you are looking at, etc. And reminded that once you cancel your service, ‘you can no longer use it’.

Thank you for the reply :)
Good to know that the cancellation can be done via chat.
Which excuse did you use for cancelling the service ?

Unfortunately I had to pay the 4th month fee but that was expected at the time of sign-up - still a good deal overall.

Points received and I successfully cancelled the service via live chat as suggested

Just sayin 4 payments so $400 for 60k QFF points, I just applied for lower peg credit card with $99 annual fee & 60k QFF points, just sayin.

Rack up the $3k spend within a month, 60k points land & close it up, done n dusted in a month.

CC bonus points rarely post in a month and take 30 days from meeting the minimum send.

The exception is AMEX.

Spend the required $$ within 1st month, the bonus points will land at 1st statement month.
Always been my experience. I do churn a couple cards per year.

It was only ever $400 if you took out the service in addition to your existing service with another carrier AND had to pay the 4th month. Anyone who switched providers paid much less. This was $35 more than what I was paying at Telstra x 3months = $105. Very good deal.

Optus will offer you the $49 for 30GB plan with a $20 discount for 12 months, so total $29.

The call this morning took a total of 90 mins and only Australian staff can offer this contract that is designed to stop people leaving aka ‘Save cancel’ offer.

Do they have specific hours when they work?
