Optus joins Qantas Frequent Flyer

Virgin Mobile = Optus Network, but not Optus Customer Service!

Which customer service is better? I've never been with either as, like straitman, Telstra's coverage is the only real option for me in Gippsland if you just want it to work without finding a small mountain to stand on first..

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app

Thanks Red Roo I have signed up just then.

Takes a bit of time but not too much of an ordeal!

I did it with trepidation, knowing how bad Optus online forms are set up. Almost anything you do goes in circles and then you give up without getting the job done. Try using their customer feedback forms!

First time I've had a form not accept my submission without actually clicking on the T&C box. I was wondering why it wasn't accepting my submission as I'd ticked the boxes with the exception of the one permitting Optus to spam me with SMS ads.

Anyone finding those 'Captcha' images almost impossible to read? I clicked through five before I had one I thought I could read and it still said I had it wrong! Next one worked, maybe it was because I put a space between the words the first time.

I think this is good. It's 2 points per $ which is more than I expected! And I've been with Vodafone for ages so all of you that complain about coverage and customer service, etc, etc I'm sure Optus will be a dream compared to Vodafone. They are getting whacked with a Class Action, after all, precisely due to their terrible service.

My point is that overall this is good and we should be happy rather than gripe at everything that QF does.

Only just got my email and registered my personal and work accounts. Got the Optus email within seconds, now I am just waiting:

If you have added any accounts that are now showing as pending validation, we will contact you within 14 days to validate them. You will not be able to earn points until your Optus Accounts are validated.

Time is ticking Optus and I need some more FF points

It is always the way my contract is up and after using the optus network for some 10 years i would say its time to go back to T as i have not been ovely happy with the call centre response times
Is it enough to keep my accounts with them time will tell, may wait for new iphone 5 and check out the new plans. In the short term thank you for the extra points

Has anybody received a call from Optus CS to confirm their entered account number(s)?

Registering to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points through Optus Rewards

How do I register to earn points through Optus Rewards?

Registering to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points from Optus Rewards can be done in three easy steps;
1. Complete the registration form at optus.com.au/points
2. Link your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number to your new Optus Rewards membership. If you don't have one join the Qantas Frequent Flyer program now through Optus Rewards and the normal joining fee of $82.50 (inc GST) will be waived.
3. Add your eligible Optus services. Any services that are manually added will need to be validated before points can be earned. It may take up to 14 days to validate these Optus accounts.

You will earn points when the payment of your added Optus service has been processed. Please allow up to 30 days after payment has been processed for your points to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

Well, it's been 2 weeks now Optus (got my email on Monday, 5th at 2.20pm] ....:-| time is a ticking and no follow up for validation yet....

I'd then like to pay some of my accounts:):D and earn some points towards my next JASA

Interestingly, when I registered my wife and her account, it was automatically validated :o

I got an SMS message on Sept 8th @ 4.21pm from Optus: "Your accounts are validated, you will earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points from Optus Rewards the next time you pay your bill, or recharge your service"

I am trying to remember when I submitted the form but I don't think a week had passed before I received the SMS. My Optus Mobile will be direct-debited on the 27th of this month so I guess I'll see then about the points. Also have Pre-paid mobile broadband but that won't need topping up until mid-October.

No but I did receive an SMS about my work accounts confirming that work accounts were now confirmed/linked to my QFF account.

Maybe as QANTAS and Optus are getting together they may consider scrapping the absolutely abysmal Telstra free wi-fi in the lounges and putting in one that actually works, and has capacity for expansion!

I would find that far more useful than getting a few more points.

Has anyone received any points from Optus as yet?

I filled out the form as soon as it was available and paid my bill a few weeks after that... however nothing has appeared as yet.

This is starting to annoy me , well beyond the stated 2 weeks...and no contact from Optus to confirm the account numbers. I lodged on 5 September

Now they are sending out mail to businesses (we got one today) still doing the announcement. Well I've already done it Optus and you haven't met your stated 2 weeks...FGS, underpromise and overdeliver, not the other way around - because that is the best way to really pi$$ off your valued customers.

Just checked my wife's account (who had her account confirmed when I lodged her application) and mine. Nothing in either.

I got a text less than a week after I applied to say my account was validated. Havent paid a bill since then so no idea on how long to get points.

Well, Optus must have confirmed my accounts (without contact with me:shock:), as I just got an SMS saying:

You have earned 730 Qantas Frequent Flyer points when you paid your latest Optus bill/recharged. This may take 30 days to appear in your Frequent Flyer account

To prove just how crazy it is, I just logged into my QFF account:

So it would appear they are backdated to payments made after the date we registered

Nice partnership. For some reason I keep forgetting to sign up for this promotion.

Collectively we spend ~$190/month not including what I spend on Optus pre-paid mobile broadband....

I have received some points from Optus.

Still no word on them displacing the useless Telstra lounge wifi though.

Has anyone heard anything?
