Overview of Best Qantas Status Run Options [not the discussion thread]

I guess QFF will treat AS F just like AA domestic F and only award J points and SCs.
Will have to wait and see. I loved AS F. Hopefully their joining OW opens some new options.

If you're looking for status runs around Australia at the moment, the best value actually seems to be Jetstar fares with a Max Bundle. On most routes, the Max Bundle seems to cost an extra $85 (give or take a few dollars) and earns SCs at the Flexible Economy rate.

For example, if you booked a $39 MEL-SYD fare and added a Max Bundle, the total cost is $124 and comes with 20 status credits.

On domestic routes 750-1,500 miles you'd earn 30 SC/flight, and 40 SCs for flights over 1,500 miles.

In another example, I'm seeing SYD-DRW as low as $259 including the Max Bundle (or less if you have Club Jetstar). Earns 40 SC.

I'm not a fan of Jetstar, but I don't think there are many domestic Qantas status runs available at the moment which are quite as good value?

Why would anyone bother doing status runs at the moment, most people would have their status extended in the first QF announcement early 2020 and then around late Nov QF made it even simpler as you only need to take one flight to keep status to whenever your year ends in 2022.

That's very true, although some of the status credits earned in this membership year will be rolled over to next year. So they aren't entirely a waste of time (and the SCs could still be useful if you're close to lifetime silver or gold).

I'm personally not booking any status runs at the moment. But if I was flying with Jetstar, I would consider paying a little more for the Max Bundle to get the extra SCs.

Was able to take advantage of the 30% awards flight tickets to do Mel-Syd in business class for 18SC one way. This is taking into consideration that you have Points Plus.

Just flew the other direction in whY on discounted award and thanks to PC, got 7 SCs v 10 for paid Red-E. First time I’ve done it and I was pleasantly surprised.

Not quite the same as the heady days of JASAs but better than nothing.

Meanwhile, my luggage with brand new QF 100 tag decided to go SYD-MEL via OOL... ETA sometime tonight... ☹️

A couple of very good runs posted on FlyerTalk.

JFK-x-DCA-xCLT-xRDU-xCLT-xDCA-JFK for USD310 and 240 SCs

EWR-xCLT-xORD-xFAI-xORD-xCLT-EWR for USD577 and what I think is 360 SCs.
I was going to ask if there were any good earning status runs for Australia. Then I thought to myself “who am I kidding, we ain’t going no where” 🤣🤣🤣

Wow. I think I have a rule of no more than 2 flights in a day in the US now, after the smattering of cancellations i've experienced. Even 6 in 2 days seems a bit scary.

I assume QFF doesn't get confused by the back-to-back ORD-FAI and FAI-ORD flights having the same flight number? Would you still get full credit for both flights?

Yeap, if there was no pandemic/lockedown (nation wide/international), this page would be jumping leaps and bounds, maybe page 30 by now.

With the double status credits offer on now, at the same time as a QF sale, I've included some DSC status runs at the bottom of this article:

The best run I found was BNE-SYD-CHC-SYD-BNE for $1,068 return in J, netting 480 status credits (including 240 bonus status credits thanks to DSCs).

MKY-ROK-BNE for $109 also isn't bad, picking up 40 status credits (with DSCs).

Edit: @henrus pointed out in another thread that you can get 520 status credits for around $1,030 by flying BNE-SYD-CHC-MEL-BNE. That's $1.98/SC.

Just booked 2 separate trips of MEL-BNE-AKL-BNE-MEL for 560 SCs at a cost of $1155. I'm going to overnight in AKL each time as I've never been to NZ and have some free night stays I can use.

2 months into my membership year I'll go from NB to WP for the first time in 6 years which I'm pretty happy with.
