Yes, asboslute load of tripe, and not only the time and effort put in by everyone, but how many trees do you think died to print this load of rubbish out that will be irrelevant in very short order or did they use common sense and just shift to a printable PDF of it??? There must be cheaper ways to end up with a bunch of door stops??

And did you see that pic of Wayne on the front of the Oz yesterday?? With a sort of dullard-ish smirk on his face... How those around him can resist from trying to smack it off him i don't know???

You're right of course, Casanoidea. Why should the government fulfill their obligations and put forward a budget. While you're at it why don't you demand they abolish elections and just put all the "right" people into parliament.

Genius.

Been listening for all of one minute and 'working Australians' already popped up. I think now they've scrapped the baby bonus they've gone from working families back to working Australians.

So he's predicting a surplus in 2016/17

I think he's actually right for once because he won't be treasurer.

And we just lost another 2.4B deficit in a week. 19.4B.

The woman interviewing him on ABC has just hit the nail on the head

" Re revenue write downs in the last 3 years revenue has grown by 6% 9% & 6% doesn't that indicate that Australia doesn't have a problem with revenue Australia has a problem with overspending based on inflated expectations"

Absolutely he's been making fantasy island predictions & now he's been found out

The last budget speech by Wayne......now that's something to celebrate! :D

7% growth in revenue & they still can't balance the books...... ALP = A Losers Party;)

Oh, that Wayne is a jokester...........there's $188M in the budget for radio telescopes to investigate black holes...........could save $187,999,997 by just buying a torch to shine in his ear.

+ 188M likes:D

Will use this line many times over the next days:cool:

Swan said that revenue was down. It isn't. The revenue was down on his ridiculous expectations of growth on a country trying to deal with the aftermath of the GFC.

Where are all the lefties praising the award winning treasurer because he's done such a good job lol?

On a separate point I thought Julia looked very tired behind Swannie she's aged recently reminds me of Blair he was the same. I don't envy her she must be under tremendous stress I think she should retire its probably best for everyone

Trying to work out what the hell "saves" means and why the language is being butchered. Also avoiding the equine excrement commentary from the born to rule classes.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

If I flight planned like the Federal Budget. Firstly I'd assume that I had an highly unlikely tailwind. Then I'd remove my variable reserve (don't need that) and I'd reduce my fixed reserve to a razor thin margin. Despite being on a tight plan I'd pick a higher fuel flow than I needed and include discretionary diversions that use more fuel. Once I got airborne and discovered that I didn't have the tailwind required I wouldn't reduce to range power because that would be 'irresponsible'. I would however blame the previous crew for burning excessive fuel (which they did) even though they handed the aircraft over with fuel in the tank. Of course I wouldn't let anybody know that I had a fuel issue until I could no longer hide the fact that we couldn't get to the destination. In the end the result would probably be the same though, I'd be out of a job by the end of Sept.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

No you are really old when you give up listening to budgets.
I am really old!

Yep, I did the family christmas video. I'm sure I'm not as old as you.

Almost. You ask someone else (treasury) to tell you about the tailwind and then blindly accept their highly unlikely estimate.

I don't consider myself that old but I've given up listening to budgets since I realised our form of government is a ******* dysfunctional poor excuse for a democracy that has even the worst Socialist leader laughing in their grave. (And that applies to our entire government, not just the carrot incumbent and the rest of her veggies).

To parody poorly a famous movie phrase, "Frankly, darlin', why should I give a damn?"

So after 5 years of highly unlikely tailwind estimates that prove utterly incorrect, you don't sack them for incompetence.

Hey - this is getting too on topic for this thread ...

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Almost. You ask someone else (treasury) to tell you about the tailwind and then blindly accept their highly unlikely estimate.

But you've planned for this contingency.....by branch stacking the treasury with political interference and trained them to do the calculations over & over & over again until they finally come up the conclusion that suits your flight plan.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Two posts highlighting the politicisation of the tailwind forecasting bureau. It should be impossible to sack them so that they can give full and frank information without fear. Unfortunately, successive pilots have ignored such convention - as per the second post.

Leftie treasured belief - stick something related to class warfare (born to rule, silver spoon, etc) or mention Alan Jones in any come back and they think they have made an incisive observation and/or stinging rebuke even when it has no relevance to anything being discussed and especially when their beloved holy cows are knee deep in their own bovine excrement and sinking deeper...

Its a bit late to be worrying about "fulfilling obligations", if they had come within a bulls roar of fulfilling what the Australian people required and expected they wouldn't be facing annihilation...

In times past they could often expect at last a few ABC types to have a bit of a soft spot for them, but everyone is teeing off on the ALP these days... From the other night when the coalition released a measured workplace relations policy and Shorten went on Lateline almost foaming at the mouth talking about how calamitous it was going to be and the host in a very measured way just bringing him back, sayig that the coalition had delivered all the answers the ALP had been demanding and the ALP had individual contracts in the Fair Work Act etc... Jenny Macklin fronting up to try and use the NDIS as a wedge issue and the host on Lateline just repeatedly asking why they don't legislate it themselves seeing they have the numbers and the people will see them as having tried to bring politics into it and her no, no, no-ing... Tonight the 7.30 report host not letting Swanny get away with that load of codswallop about falling revenues till he had to bluster out some lines and at the end asking if he should resign or walk away because of the damage he has done to the party!!!

I mean most of their political thrashing around is so obvious that it doesn't fool anyone and so its quite easy to see through it all and call it for what it is, but they use to have a few friends in the media, now it must be painful to front up...

And thanks, i hold my own... :)
