I think Eddie Obeid wins that race
I don't actually recall Eddie Obeid's prime ministership.

I was talking about using Australia as their own personal piggy bank but apparently NSW isn't part of Australia

Interesting that Rudd has never called an election. In 2006 he was expected to return from holidays fresh for an early 2007 election. He would have won if he had gone then. Instead he sat on his hands, did nothing and watched as the polls dropped to the point that Gillard declared that his government had lost its way and took over.

Qantas route changes over the last decades have led me to think they believe NSW IS Australia!I was talking about using Australia as their own personal piggy bank but apparently NSW isn't part of Australia
And they let you vote. sometime logic is so hard, I should have broken it down in the small steps. Last time I checked Australia consisted of vic, sa, wa, qld, NT, act, TAs, nsw and various other territories. Australia is much more than just nsw. That does not mean nsw is not part of Australia. Using nsw as a personal piggy bank is not the same as using Australia as such.
Of course. I meant 2009/2010. Hope I didn't confuse too many people! I knew what I meant - it just didn't come out right!Actually Howard was PM in 2006 and got to choose the election date in late 2007 when Rudd got elected and Howard was the second PM to lose his seat at an election.
meh, so did that old fraud John Howard. Nobody viewed Australia as his own personal piggy bank the way Howard did.
Oh now I see so if you buy a house In NSW you're not buying a house in Australia just a house in NSW.
Don't bother with your vote by the way because they'll lose anyway
Which was why Howard ran up 12 straight surpluses,
whereas Rudd/ Gillard just spend us into deficit and oblivion.

1996 to 2007 is like 11 years. Wasting the benefits of an economic boom is hardly the sign of good government even if you run a surplus. Have we forgotten the massive queue of ships of the east coast of Australia all due to lack of investment in infrastructure?
Exactly, but apparently we should have spent it on a high speed passenger rail along the east coast. Infrastructure associated with industry around the country should've been priority 1 IMO.
Easy to run up surpluses in great economic conditions when you're also in a resources boom and hocking off national infrastructure.Which was why Howard ran up 12 straight surpluses,
whereas Rudd/ Gillard just spend us into deficit and oblivion.
They were waiting for the school halls?Have we forgotten the massive queue of ships off the east coast of Australia all due to lack of investment in infrastructure?
A team of trained monkeys could have run surpluses during Uncle Arthur's era. Which is pretty much the case, come to think of it.Which was why Howard ran up 12 straight surpluses,
whereas Rudd/ Gillard just spend us into deficit and oblivion.
Look like a the wheels are in motion to officially call a the Federal election as I type.
I tend to agree that high speed rail between SYD and CBR and MEL and ADL would have the best chance of being practically better than flying. So I would include that as an option. However, higher priority would go to industry. The coal/minerals export ports, the Pacific highway, freight rail link in Sydney to port botany, are just 3 of the infrastructure gaps that were raised during Howard's term.
