Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I cannot even begin to imagine how any rational person would consider the situations to be vaguely comparable.
The point is that neither Rudd nor Abbott chose the background for these photographs. If they had, they would have removed any controversial elements, as we generally see during planned set-pieces such as campaign launches where backgrounds are bland.

Out on the campaign trail, photoshoots are risky for two reasons:
1. Controversial elements may be present - a protester's placard, a kid making faces in the background, an unfortunate coincidence.
2. Media snappers aren't likely to refrain from taking the most interesting shot.

If you rely upon News Limited for your facts, then you leave yourself open to looking like a fool. Seems they were doing their standard hatchet job on Rudd, but were caught lying and then made it worse by trying to deny it ever happened. You would think they know how everything on the internet is in the public domain. Kevin Rudd denies delaying Syria briefing for Annabel Crabb show

And what is the quip about "jetting off in the tax payer funded jet" supposed to mean? Is Kevin Rudd now supposed to pay for his own travel on this election campaign? Does Tony Abbott?? Is this a contender for the most useless attempt to score a political point on this overlong thread??? Of course it's not - the "scandal" of Rudd appearing in front of a picture of Hitler went straight to #1, and I can only hope that it remains the low point of this discussion. I'm not holding my breath ....

It isn't the delay to the briefing I commented on. It was the announcement that his election campaigning would be delayed while he sought the briefing. And I've long moved past the Hitler photo so it seems you are the one hanging on to it right now.

Well, he would deny it, wouldn't he? He doesn't like being caught out. Seems to me that the best time for a briefing would have been Saturday morning, given that 1800 Canberra time is 0400 in DC

Well, yes. Once the election campaign begins, each party pays for its own travel. Which is why the ALP is delaying is campaign launch until six days before voting - Kevin737 gets to scoot around for another week at our expense.

And, as Rudd was in Canberra in the morning, presumably with free and open access to senior officials, he chose to fly up to Brisbane for lunch before returning to Canberra. That's a round trip we paid for just so Rudd could do a puff piece. At a time of supposed international crisis.

If Rudd is the concerned international statesman, then how come he puts Rudd the smiling cook first on the appointments diary?

I don't think Rudd gives two lukewarm squirts of poo for the kids in Syria, but he cares very much for the opinion of Annabel Crabb on his cooking.

If I was an Australian this would embarrass me

Well as your seemingly not <redacted> i think us Australians are quite capable of making our own decisions about how we view those odds with again a majority not really giving a rat's about certain people's view...

But thanks for generously gracing us with your opinion of things... ;)

Just remembered one of Kevs promises so here is a message from my son to him.
"Hey dude where is my school computer you promised" would be it. Never came even though he was in the qualifying zone.

I struggle to believe Abbot, and everyone else in his "team", walked up to that rally without seeing at least one of those signs.

The other major difference between the two scenarios, of course, is that one was a crude and vindictive personal attack, and the other was part of a class assessment.

If they had, they would have removed any controversial elements, as we generally see during planned set-pieces such as campaign launches where backgrounds are bland.
There is nothing even vaguely controversial about a picture of Hitler, as part of a history lesson, being in the background of a picture taken at a school.

Nothing. At all.

Like I said, I cannot even begin to comprehend how any rational person would believe the two scenarios are comparable. Indeed, any rational person should feel flat-out insulted by anyone trying to make them seem similar.

So Clive Palmer is going to reduce everyone's tax by 15% and put an extra $80B into health.

Lol I don't think that's going to work.

Then why was Prince Harry chastised in dressing in a naz_ costume?

Apparently - not worth an apology! It's only satire;)

No. It's Labor satire. That makes it speshul. And not subject to the same scrutiny that anything the Coalition does. ;)

.

Probably a calculated move by Tony Abbott and his team to show what he really thinks of woman in power.

Are you of the opinion that TA wants to be PM? And is he doing this by trying to avoid controversy etc and trying to show that he is really a nice guy who's daughters love him?

Why would he want to do what you suggest?

Let us examine the definition of moron :- "a person having an intelligence quotient of between 50 and 70, able to work under supervision".

The $64 question is always "Is this an insult or merely a description." YMMV.

It seems that the KR supporters are getting more strident every day as the polls seem to go against them. And in trying to turn the tide, don't realise it won't happen by being unrelentlessly negative, or calling people names.

He's married with 3 daughters I think he knows all about women in power.

Just maybe he didn't think Julia was doing a very good job along with the rest of Australia that have at least 2 neurons to string together and he's not a misogynist after all.
