I was taught to play the ball - not the man (or lady)

Seems it's not something that was taught to everyone posting here!

Is it me or is virtually every political ad on tv by the Libs now? Maybe I'm not listening to the ALP ads or as usual they've run out of someone else's money.

Yes the implication was that you didn't like the tax because it affected you ie you have savings. My fault I didn't realize you were calling me ludicrous not the tax.

Anyway important news from Tony I'm looking forward to turning back on the swimming pool heater with a discount on the current ludicrous price of electricity
The carbon tax isn't going anywhere. It'll get blocked in the Senate and Abbot doesn't have the stones for a double dissolution.

Not that the price of electricity would change much even if it did go, so you may as well just turn the heater back on.

We have been flooded with Palmer and the Greens. For us, in SA, Hansen-Young is at risk because of Mr Z. But not much at all from Labor and the Coalition.

You don't think he'd go for a double dissolution? I'm sure he said he would?
But I suppose people's ideas change when they get in the big chair.

My father spends about $200 per 1/4 in the UK & he has electric heating I spend about 10x that I would love to know what percentage is the carbon tax

My quarterly bills vary in the hundreds depending on wether summer or winter. They are basically horrendous in winter for heating.

Oh no. I got sucked in. I love West Wing too and have the boxed series.
I love it too. Got the whole deal. Sometimes I put on the subtitles so as to get the whole nuance. Rudd's response may have owed a little to Jed Bartlett, but the same thought, well expressed, is as valid in his mind as anyone else's. He did well there.

No chance. He's not going to risk losing senate seats to the gazillion little one-issue parties waiting to snatch up senate seats.

You have a $2000/quarter electricity bill !?

Might be time to shut down the grow room. :D

The exact amount depends on where you live - I'm surprised it's not specifically called out in your power bill (or at least wasn't back when it was introduced). It would likely be about 10%.

Odds for ALP leader at the end of the year. Billy looks very short if you'll excuse the pun. Can't say I like any of them but I think he's a bit too old school union style for them to present an electable image.

Can't see super Kev still being around though

It was $3000 until I started switching everything on standby off changing to LED lights and making sure everything is energy efficient.

You see it does work it even makes me change my bad habits.

With some luck the Greens will lose some skin in the senate.....looks like two gooooone by the latest count. Then the horse trading will begin again....only this time 180 degrees in a different direction to the last 3 years.

Solar is the go. Have turned my $850/qtr into $300/qtr cash back......coming into spring/summer I suspect the cash back will rise significantly. The thing generated 950kw in August @ $0.52/kw:D

Well apparently I've got ideal roof facing area for a 10kw system which was about 42 panels for $20k.

I'm tempted but I think I've missed the boat with the tariffs and I've heard talk that they want to charge people with solar more because its increasing the costs for those without solar because there's less demand or something so I'm waiting a bit
