It's called Minority Government.

I suspect that is what come of the smart operators in the ALP and the Coalition are thinking as well, if polling shows that minority government is on the nose and they can sully the Independents/Greens, then we may see some very interesting preference deals/swaps between the ALP and Coalition to put some people last.

Makes you wonder really how Tony lost.

Australia has only had 1 Government that lost office after it's first term. That was the Scullin government in 1931.
So Tony Abbott very nearly pulled off a very rare occurrence.Julia saw the ALP's primary vote fall from 43.4% to 38%.A real winner.
In an interesting coincidence the election that brought Scullin to power in 1929 was the only other time a sitting PM lost his seat.
So if Julia remains PM and the polls dont change by September TA better pray that Julia doesn't lose her seat.

Except that instead, he just turned out to be another loser.

I thought it was obvious how Tony lost, you had a bunch of independents who for their own political benefit thought they could get within a bulls roar of the levers of power rather than just being a bunch of non entities consigned to making up the numbers and being ignored...

They came together as odd bed fellows out of expediency after a charade of weighing up both options and fell in together because they knew if they chose to go with the Libs this dysfunctional minority nonsense could probably have been measured in months (as it should've been) before another general election would have been called and the Australian people given another chance and i think we could make an educated guess at what the result would have been...

That just based on how fearful this pack have been of going back and putting it to the test to get a mandate from the peopl they claim to serve, and so indulging in every sort of half baked and contrived schemes to cling to power no matter how noxious some of the characters involved were... That to me speaks volumes as to what they thought the result would have been had they tested it (whilst their Labor State colleagues were being used to wipe the floor with), and it has sullied the Labor party, some of its leading members and probably the Parliament in geneal as to what wretched games and contortions have had to been used to get this term to of Government to almost the end of its natural life...

Wow! You should give Fox News a call because they are looking for a new political reporter and I think you'll fit in nicely. You may want to turn the rabid bile down just a teensy bit at the interview, but.

And they'll both get the loser tag then, won't they.

The one who laughs last tends to laugh longer... But we'll see...

Also have to see if Shorten or the rest give her the chance to lose i guess as such Ruddy didn't really get put to the acid test....

After 4 years as PM, Julia is now the mother of our nation. Well done. Tony, still a lame, gay, churchy loser.

Now there is some high brow analysis if ever I have heard it...

Moods is going to be ecstatic over this.... :D

She also won't have that novelty of the 1st woman PM to play off this time...

I think the gay tag is inappropriate too.

Must be a big closet with all those daughters and his wife he has...

No not for that reason. Could care less if a politician was gay or straight. Used in the context it has been used, it's meant as an insult.

And that is not how you meant. Family can say what they like.

I certainly do not think Mr Abbott is gay, but since when did a wife and children mean you could not be gay? Denial is an amazingly powerful emotion.

Back on topic, quick question for those in the know, if Mr Abbott gets elected, what's on the list of legislation he is going to repeal?

Not sure, but I had a tip off that he's going to enforce Priority Boarding and bring back anytime access :D :D

The bugger stole two of my DYKWIA party policies, next thing you will be telling me is that he is closing SJU as an AA destination!
