Labour up to 1912. Now Labor. ( I cannot bring myself to spell it that way )

I can see a good headline there........there's no U in todays Labor party;)

Pretty sure thats what Krudd has felt for a good long while.

Pushka please read the Greens policies. If you have been thinking Labor hates business people then try to figure where the Greens stand. If you want unemployment or underemployment they could lead the way.
Oh don't worry cove. This was a few years ago when I was naive. The greens these days would have us living in trees. And I'm betting we wouldn't be allowed fires to cook our food. Well, we wouldn't be allowed to kill animals anyway so I guess we wouldn't need the fires either.

Hard to tell what overall effect Alan Jones has. For every redneck pea brain listening in and feeling hard done by life in general while driving around in Sydney traffic, there must be someone else, not necessarily an AJ listener who thinks that if Alan Jones does not like a person or party then that person or party must have something positive going for it.

The legislation that I like best that came out of this parliament is "plain paper packaging". I think this had bipartisan support so it's here to stay after September.

They have in the past. But can't see that reverting for a while. As a female I was quite excited to see Julia Gillard appointed as PM even if I didn't like the method. But the reality has been so different from what I was hoping for.
That's me too. Good to see a change from middle-aged white guys. I didn't stand up for everything Julia did, but then I don't for any politician.

My beef with Julia is that she finds political solutions for practical problems and after a while the wheels fall off.

If you reside in Warringah - fair enough.

I haven't voted properly at a federal level at a very long time however if I did, I swing to the ALP side of things. I normally go early in the morning, tick my name off, head to the nearest secure box and deposit my unmarked paper straight in. I wish voting was not compulsory.

I did vote properly at a local state by-election where the premier Fatty O'Farrell outsted Lord Mayor Clover as a state MP [she couldn't hold two jobs due to Get Clover Legislation and that's understable] and tried to get his LIB man into state politics. That failed miserably though when us Sydney folks voted overwhelming for the IND. Anyway thats OT.

The AJ audience is no better or worse than your typical union kumbaya group meeting.

On the one hand I admire your efforts to seek different viewpoints, on the other hand there is a world of difference between their respective integrity and intent.

And they all get to vote.

In all likelihood we will have a change of government at the next election, in many other countries we would see riots in the street if the opinion polls are accurate, instead I think what is happening is a true reflection of Australia, a true democracy where we voice our opinion at the ballot box.

My thoughts are;

For years we have seen negotiations in the senate, that happens in the house of reps the world is ending.

We need a sensible party as balance of power in the senate, not a radical party like the greens. The unfortunate thing is we have no alternative.

We don't need a government that controls both houses, the voting public resolved that last election when they removed a prime minister who tried to enforce his own agenda without ratification from the voters.

Not withstanding our individual ideas on what has been good or bad with this parliament it is likely to go its full course, a great reflection on our democracy.

Now bring on the brickbats. :p

I've long held the view that the great majority of AJ's audience.....is your average older Aussie battler I.E. the same people that once were "A" grade - ALP voters.

If the ALP remain the party for the young, clueless & self interest......the Green Monster is going to consume it - very quickly!
