Almost impossible to get any other news even weather or traffic this morning, i think media here are over estimating peoples tolerance if this goes on for a fortnight as predicted.

In UK sporting matches cancelled for a couple of weeks, comedy programs being removed from tv schedules, theatre cancelled.. I cant see sporting fans here accepting a suspension of footy finals season.

Thankfully we have streaming so can turn off.

I do not understand the morbid obsession of some people wanting to queue for days to see a dead body.

While I agree with the sentiment, if there is one thing the Queen instilled in him it was dedication to duty come what may.

I have heard good things about Queen Elizabeth and may her soul Rest In Peace.

One a “may-be-related” note, arriving into Singapore, Colombo and Chennai today, those pax flying on BA to LHR were asked to meet the airline staff upon arrival .. consistently on all three legs, all those flying BA to LHR … may be something to do with the demise of the Queen?

Sad day, she was a solid constant in an ever changing world and sometimes not always change for the better. Although she kept up with the politics of the modern world and had grace under pressure.

Some of the the old news footage this morning has shown what a great job she did for the 7 decades and before when she was a teenager in WW2.

To put it more bluntly, the Royals are the greatest sales team of all time, they sell worldwide everything from tourism, jet fighters to railway equipment to HP sauce.

It's not a morbid obsession. It's paying respects to someone who has guided them through a world war, participated in that herself as a support land person when the family could have retreated to the country, and generally is the glue of modern British Society while elected people come in, dabble, then depart.

You can pay your respects without the need to physically view the corpse, I maintain it is utterly morbid and borders on circus like even.

Possibly the most important person of our lifetime in terms of world stability.
Out of respect it would be nice if this thread could stay apolitical.

I went to pay respects when the Queen Mother was lying in state in Westminster Hall. It was a solemn moment, passing the coffin draped in her royal standard and flanked by members of her family on guard.

It was respect not only for her, but for her family too. As any one of us that has lost a parent we were close to will know.
